One of the main complaints is that Mirai is too much of a blank slate.
It's almost as if she's supposed to be an audience stand-in, an eternal every-girl that all the little girls can identify with.
It just comes across as if she has very little character of her own.
She ends up doing a lot of things, but it always seems that she's just going along and having things dropped in front of her.

The way I see it she's the opposite of this, she's someone you look at not someone you relate to. She's pretty and brave and confident and has people who admire her, she doesn't have typical little girl MC problems and doubts, maybe a little in S1 but not anymore.
