Sports Animes

why do you all hate sports animes? srs answers only

I only like it if they're crippled.

I don't, but I find they drag a hell of a lot when they go for any length. Haikyuu was a big offender for that - I think matches were taking four episodes before I gave up.

Prejudice against sports anime seems to be mostly American thing from what I've heard.

>animes

I've got nothing against them, especially when they manage to make a single match 10 episodes long and it's still interesting. Hell, the last match in the Slam Dunk manga is 72 chapters long and it's probably the best thing I've ever read. I think the people who don't like good sports stuff are either zoomers who need things to be changing constantly or people that don't like how gay these series always end up.

but user, a sports anime is my fav anime

Because they tend to get boring unless they go full retard with superpowers like PoT or KnB.

As expected of the obese burgers!

Tbf haikyuu is the only good one.

Yas Forums doesn't sports because they're fat neets

Ping pong and haikyuu are the only good ones and the latter has probably the worst shark jump timeskips ever seen in WSJ

Why do you assume that? Because the board isn't full of squealing fujos spamming haikyuu threads?

Waiting for a good ice hockey anime

>are the only good ones
Slam Dunk exists.

Have you watched Run With The Wind? That was pretty great

Slam Dunk is bar none the best sports manga of all time. Joe is the only one that can compete.

Slam dunk sucks
I forgot about run with the wind, I agree that one was good as well.

there's always pointless drama and stories, not enough sports
promoting dangerous behaviour that leads to injury
Dia no Ace is the only one I really like

I’ll give it a go cheers

I didn’t mind the time skip desu. I imagine it would of got stale pretty quick otherwise

there are virtually no threads about them on this board, where are all the faggots?

I love them but they aren't popular on the board and discussion is hard to generate for long periods of time at least in my view.
I miss this show so much man...It had everything. Caught me by surprise on how good it turned out.

I liked Ashita no Joel

The first season of Kaleido Star was top stuff. Was not expecting it to be that good.

I feel like it's too gay for me, but I also want it to be more focused on Haiji and not-kageyama.

>animes

no one hates sport anime, there's great show out there like hajime no ippo and all out!!,

>still crying about the time skip
Get over it user

Lurk more, I've seen plenty. Just because there's no 24/7 general doesn't mean there's no discussion. Also coincidentally, I've seen at least a couple of HQ threads where the OP cries about the lack of threads. Just like this thread where OP assumes that wahhhhh Yas Forums must hate sports because there's no threads! They should just stop whining and learn to make those threads themselves if they want to talk.

i dont like sports, especially team sports. probably autism. maybe if it was a weak to strong type story with less emphasis on the actual game.

>why do you all hate sports animes?
why do you think I hate them? I love sports anime/manga.

He kinda looks like Todd.

Kaiji is my favorite sports anime

because they all the same
if you've watched one sports anime you essentially watched all of them

based

None of us watch pro sports so we cant fathom why people watch sports.

Haikyuu is nice and Oikawa is even nicer

It's not even that gay until the ending, then it's pretty close to textual gay, it's mostly fanservice and bath scenes, but in a way that they don't feel intrusive due to the set-up.

There's a pretty narrow gap where a writer can keep a sports series interesting without polluting it with too many other elements (doesn't help that this tends to be yuri/fujoservice) I like Ping Pong and Eyeshield 21.

Literally the only sports series I like is KnB because of how absolutely batshit retarded it became.

Watching right now, on episode 10. Haiji makes me feel funny.

yuri on ice was very gay but the animation was nice I enjoyed it

This has got to be the most retarded take on sports anime ever

The only sports anime that I actually like are Bamboo Blade and Garupan

what about ping pong girls?

for me its that theres no stakes that give any weight to me. yeah a character can lose the game or their dream to make it big, but Ive never been a competitive person so it doesnt mean much to me. Not saying you have to have death to make any impactful stakes (quite the opposite, death can be lazy way to cause drama), but Im more interested in problems that have much more impact to a community. Political discourse, discrimination, war times, police investigation, apocalypse, unknown threats, etc. So I like SnK, Psycho-Pass, Land of the Lustrous, etc. But romance slice of life and sports anime dont do much for me. I heard Kids on the Slope was super good but I just couldn't get into it.

1. Nobody likes sports.
2. If you have seen 1 sport anime you have already seen them all.
There are exceptions but you won't find them easily, is like Gurren Lagann and mecha.
>I don't really like mecha but Gurren Lagann was amazing
And you'll get more people to watch your series.

because fujos likes them

>1. Nobody likes sports.
t. incel.

...

>Yas Forums, a board for unaddapted incel losers that either really fat or really skinny and cant even climb a fight of stairs without dying, most of these people have no competition spirit or ambition and know nothing of real sports.
Gee, i Wonder why.
Personally i love sport, did basketball in middle school, football and swimming în highschool, voley in college and now i've picked up boxing and will probably advance to kickboxing or maybe jujitsu.
My personal favorite sport manga is Giant Killing, really underrated and the only thing in fictional media that got close to depicting football accuratly.

Miyuki remains a shit.

Where would you have gone with the story user?
Kageyama pretty much sums up the series I want to win with THIS team

There was nowhere else to go

I don't read or watch many sports anime but it's not that I dislike them. It's a nice genre.

is there a bad hockey anime? because i'll take almost anything right now

miyuki is sex

Oh wow, I feel so bad about my loser self that I'll start self-improving by watching some chinese cartoons! Thanks so much user. If more people were out there calling Yas Forumsnons with Yas Forums buzzwords then maybe they'd all fix their lives and make more sports threads for you.

Seriously though, sports anime/manga was never that big outside Japan. Maybe Captain Tsubasa was once big in some spic country, or so I've heard. Yuri on Ice was probably the first big sports hit after that, and even in YoI's case many fans are in it just for the homo and the cute boys. Those who watched it for the sport seem more like the couch potato sports fan type, and they got more interested in stalking Yuzuru Hanyu than actually trying skating themselves.

I liek sports anime/manga generally but the problem with the vast majority of them are either they're shit from the beginning or become stale after a while. Baby Steps, Daiya no Ace, and Hajime no Ippo (before Ippo retired) are all examples of manga that started getting repetitive. People can complain all they want about sport series pandering to yurifags and fujoshi but the best sports manga have the same level of potential gay pairings as any other shonen manga and there hasn't even been a single objectively good female sports series to date.

>Haiji makes me feel funny.
it gets better.[/spoiler

Sports are way gayer than something like Naruto. And that's a good thing!

kiddos like inazuma eleven here

You fucked up

Two reasons.
1. Nobody cares about the sport in question.
2. They tend to turn the sport away from realism and towards battleshounen, which turns away people who would be willing to watch for the sport itself.

Sports anime with female characters are a fanservice fest. I guess it mirrors real life, sport is a man thing and it's taken seriously when there are many playing it.

Most Yas Forumsutists are either obese or auschwitz mode, of course they'd dislike sports anime.

>They tend to turn the sport away from realism and towards battleshounen, which turns away people who would be willing to watch for the sport itself.
that's the fun of sports anime. if I wanted to watch realistic sports I'd watch real sports
