I have the feeling that any person that had previous knowledgement on time travel plots won't fully enjoy Steins Gate, is a series that must be your first experience to enjoy it, try watching Donnie Darko or The Butterfly Effect, they will make Steins Gate look like a retarded fantasy series.

I didn't thought it was THAT bad, but I already mentioned my main problem with it, it was an objective waste of time that only gave you new girls to waifu, even if you think SG is the best thing ever you'll get bored of it unless the new girls really appeal to you I guess.

It has no clear direction at all. Some subplots were raised but given no conclusion, like those people with reading steiner and experimented monkeys. There are two main routes this time but they just scrambled some events chronologically and called it a day. Hell, the entire VN is just some drama cds duct taped together.
The writer CAN'T write action scenes and war tragedy, anyone who likes the rooftop berserk kagari is probably underaged or have no taste.

Stein's gate panders hard to the half-wit masses idea of being a nerd, giving it a pass. Okabe barely has any character beyond "HAHAHA Look at me I'm a giant attention whore but it's ok cause I'm QUIRKY xD" and what little is there is just "I need to save my retard waifu written" so sloppily it makes Maeda look like Hemingway. All the other characters are just JRPG /q/uest givers and have almost no relevance to the plot. Their cheap characterizations reflect that, having nothing to them outside of their tropes.

For a show that like to spew a lot about /sci/ence, it's not very logical. Everything only works conveniently to neatly fit what the plot demands, further complications are completely ignored. The ending is an asspull that wasn't built up at all and it's never explained why Okabe has the reading steiner despite that being the most important thing to making him work as a protagnoist. The romance is completely forced and feels like it only happened because he's the mc logic so of course the girl who has it all and should have a horde of guys prodding at her feet has to end up with him. Got to fulfill that fantasy.

It also disappointed me to no end that they had to make up that fictional "truth about the universe" as a plot device for "muh ultimatum" and "Muh don't play god" instead of using an already existing theory to do something experimental.
This series never intended to teach you anything and it never had to be about time travel in the first place.

Time travel leaves a lot of room to experiment with different scenarios which Steins;Gate didn't use to it's advantage.
