For THE manga that gave rise to the modern "battle" genre as we know it that's still going to this day, it's strange that this doesn't get as much discussion as it should.
Kinnikuman
It's great. Yas Forums just have too many babies who spend their time fapping to underaged girls or thinking KnY battles are good.
Too high an entry barrier for most.
It probably doesn't help most scans are garbage quality.
Kevin Mask was BODYSLAMMED BY BIG BAD BOYS FROM OUTER SPACE in the year of 92
I tried to read it but i couldn't take so much farts, i myself have a fart problem and feel harassed by this manga.
pretty much these.
kinnikuman takes quite anwhile to really get rolling, and ontop of that all we have is fan scans, and the quality varies between really good and really trash.
KWAB
Who's the best Chojin and why is it Terryman?
on the internet, nobody knows your Terryman.
Post a better cover than this.
>no cute waifus
>filled with burly men, which brought the fujos out of their caves
>cool villains are rare
Something about that
DIMES
I'm still trying to get through the anime but it starts out as such a boring shitty gag anime, it's taking me forever.
Anyone knows why Stecasse King has to be re-designed for the anime?
you clearly don't know the yaoi scene of kinnikuman, or the greatness of Akuma Shogun.
>the anime
yikes, i'd recommend the manga instead, the Anime is poorly paced and has actual filler.
Speedread the gag parts until you get to the Olympics.
Then you have Dalmatiman, or supermen based on curry and two toilet equipments
>no cute waifus
Go read Kinnikuman Lady then, faggot.
>filled with burly men, which brought the fujos out of their cave
>doesn't know about the kinnikuman yaoi scene
>cool villains are rare
Akuma Shogun is the quintessential villain design, Super Phoenix is the biggest douchebag of the 70s, and several of the Perfect Origins are fantastically written villains in their own right.
Jesus, the anime doesn't get good until episode 44? I never would've made it, thanks user.
>the Anime is poorly paced and has actual filler
Toei?
yes, Toei. not to mention the anime will do stuff like
>Kinnikuman finally fights Robin Mask
>Cuts to second volume Ultraman Parody days for a whole episode.
its the worst...
Not into spin-offs. I am just stating out things that will deter someone from trying out Kinnikuman
WAIT
KINNIKUMAN IS STILL FUCKING GOING?
What the fuuuuuuuuuuuck
>Toei handled 4/5 of my all time favorite battle shonen
Unbelievable.
yup, you can read the revival manga online too!
Filler is rather low in the anime, and don't forget that the censorship for Ramenman vs Brockenman actually made things worse.

And it's the original saga, not that Nisei spinoff.
>being so insecure about your sexuality that you can't appreciate muscle-bound superpowered professional wrestlers fighting for their ideals
>it's the holocaust all over again!
>Meat's voice
>Ramenman's voice
>those noodles
Every time.
because Kinnikuman's most over the top moments pale in comparison with other franchise's over the top moments?
Sad to say, a lot of people just have to be wowed with dazzling displays of power to get interested.
boring murder gets replaced by body horror cannibalism.
>snapping a body clean in half
>boring
I think he means that it is a common gore in this day and age. Now imagine if Mortal Kombat having a kombatant who literally turned someone into food
pretty much. mortal kombat has no shortage of cannibal themed fatalities so turning someone into food will actually stand out.
Kinnikuman has some good panels, especially in the recent stuff.
fujos like burly mens?
Too bad he lost his fight, but then again, it's le Justice Man
Satan put over Justice Man like a real company man.
THE J O B B E R.
Support the mangaka, he wants a remake
is nisei still canon?
How does one pry a series from the iron grasp of Toei?
Revival is the remake.
summon bigger fish
>THE manga that gave rise to the modern "battle" genre as we know it
Why do people keep saying this? It's not really true.
>it's strange that this doesn't get as much discussion
The scans aren't very good, for one thing. But it's also kind of an acquired taste to begin with for anyone looking for "serious" action. It's a goofy series with goofy characters doing goofy things.
it kinda suck ass.
i remember seeing this aired on the same channel kirby aired and just thinking it was dumb
It started tournament arcs before it's cool.
Those already existed in various martial arts manga that were wildly popular.
>iron grasp of Toei
To be fair, without them we wouldn't be getting the Choujin Daizenshu
youtube.com
it would actually help your case if you actually named some of them you know.
This is based on people saying that while never bothering to look into earlier manga. In Jump alone a lot of manga were doing the same things around the same time. Ring ni Kakero is a battle shonen and started years before Kinnikuman and was more popular at the time. There's probably plenty of stuff in other magazines too. In the end, battle shonen is just sports shonen with combat sports.
Been reading through Kinnikuman and it's fun looking back at how the series has progressed since it started.
>first major villain is a skelly-man with a gun and a rock monster lackey
>wrestling arc villains consists of one of the greatest technical fighters ever, 2 corrupted wrestling organizations, and a soviet fighting machine
>devil chojin arc villains are a giant buffalo-man with no blood, his slingly tag partner, and a dismembered head using a body of diamond
>tag team arc villains are literally evil Hulk Hogan and evil Andre the Giant
>scramble for the throne arc main villain is the antithesis of kinnikuman in almost every way
>perfect origins villains are all a god's chosen warriors and immortal masters of wrestling
>true devils arc main villain is literally just satan
>boxing is now tournament arc
How do you do it? There isn't even muh friendship spamming from there.
I hate you
The first series really wasn't that good.
They did at the time. New fujos are younger and like twinks.
Go to Baka-Updates and look it up yourself. It's not hard to find the various series that predate Kinnikuman. Manga revolving around judo or karate go back to the fucking '50s, some of which were majorly popular (look up Igaguri-kun -- it was a series that performed as well as anything Tezuka was putting out at the time). "Battle shonen" are just an evolution of sports/martial arts manga with various other sources of bushido tropes (like samurai manga) thrown in.
