I thought the theme of the story was supposed to be a "sometimes it doesn't work and you don't get together/stay together with the person you love" sort of deal. That's why the characters broke up randomly off screen. Now we're supposed to believe "lol, just kidding" in the last chapter in regards to Touma?

It would just need one more to explain a lot of the choices the characters made in the end. I get that the artists wanted the final chapter to be a surprise, and probably was tired of the manga to begin with for working on it for years, so I don't really fault them.

The theme of the story is making choices. The manga starts with it and ends with it.

It's for the best, monthly mangas shouldn't drag for too long. I was expecting loner Taichi and Toma with some chad for the final chapter, though. I guess this feels like a rushed and bittersweet ending.

Thank god the mangaka was there to explain all of these irrational choices and didn't just timeskip it away because they're a hack.

Honestly didn’t expect this ending. Can’t really say I dislike it, but I can’t help but feel frustrated we didn’t get to see them make all these steps.
