It's a shame they didn't do sketchy/thick lines througout the whole anime like in the sending scene. That's such a good looking genga but becomes sterile by whoever inked it to this. I bet a lot of frames were drawn nice but hastily inked, so many lopsided eyes.

What do you mean? In a way it was the studio (the director) who wanted to adapt this. It was never commissioned like most adaptations

I mean it in the way that the director pitched it for 15 years or so and Twin Engine's Kouji Yamamoto was the first one to be interested, also some Twin Engine anime are made by bigger studios like WIT or Mappa but Yamamoto probably wanted to give work to Geno. Oomori isn't affiliated with Geno.
