Putting the dinner table close to the kitchen and the phone close to the individual rooms is basic logic. That only leaves one place for the TV and couches to go. Most Japanese apartments are pretty small so you pretty much have to do things like this purely for the sake of convenience.

After watching the first episode I have to say my hope for this season is low, the digital world is blocks of blue and stuff and its going to be matt and tai wankfest again, lack of mystery and adventure in a show called digimon adventures, no real villian established, and no good OST. At least pokemon have a decent progression and sense of adventure

The only one that didn't come with some ingrain sense of their purpose was Tailmon, and even she did, but it was much more vague.

Tbh, even if they do manage to go to the Digital World later on, it won't have the same vibe. The kids will have already some knowledge and experience over Digimon. It takes away the survival aspect that characterized them.
