Yang is fucking based

>shitting on Yang while posting Reinhardt
Amazingly fucking retarded

yes

The Alliance is comically inefficient but they needed someone to put a minimum of tension to the war instead of Reinhard and his crew just curb stomping the universe.
Yang is based but is wasted by being the plot device of a losing faction to remain relevant for much longer than it should have. He would have been a much better character had he not single handedly carried so much dead weight.

>He would have been a much better character had he not single handedly carried so much dead weight
But user, that's exactly what made him so good. He was the perfect foil for the empire, who would have no enemies worth a shit otherwise.

Him carrying dead weight is his entire point. NEVER forget that he's the only reason the Empire won. Yang choosing to cuck out to democracy is the single most important scene of the show and typifies all the themes of the series.

That's why the Bucock battle was so great. Everything was exactly the kind of setup they give Yang with a more believable course of events.

they're against -50IQ alliance admirals most of the time

Is it weird that everytime I think of Yang Wenli comes up, this theme comes to mind?

youtube.com/watch?v=pwDWwJOPwcw

Tytania was a shit show, but this theme would just suit him so perfectly.

Anyone have that paint making fun of it?

Nah, you need some Mahler or Brahms for my nigga Yang

how does arsland compare?

Perhaps, we'll never know how the novels would have been written otherwise.
I would have preferred a more fleshed out faction with a cast of competent people. The empire is functional without Reinhard, he's just making it OP. The alliance is legit useless without a single man.
I get the theme, it goes against their respective political factions, the autocracy having many meritocratic equals competing whereas it is the democracy that rests on the providential man. It's not a bad theme, but it makes Yang's character weaker.
I'm also not convinced that the empire wouldn't have won even without Yang cucking. The Alliance was occupied and could not deploy more forces. The empire still had loads of reserves. The only outcome of Yang not cucking is that Reinhard would be dead, but this is manageable because the empire military doesn't rely on one non-retarded commanding officer. It would in time lead to infighting between the imperial admirals, but in the short term they would have gone full punishment on alliance territory. If the show takes so much from the story of Alexander, this is how it would have been written in that case too.

>arse
>land

lol do second rate anime really..?

It really doesn't. The Heroic Legend of Arslan is a coming-of-age fantasy adventure with cultural and political undertones, but they're definitely in the background. Guin Saga falls under the same category, but on the more mature side of things.

there are competent alliance admirals though like Bewcock, Baker admiral and Dusty. I guess they need tension but guys like them and Merkatz seems to hold up well against Reincrew. In fact much like Yang they are often able to perfectly summaise what they are planning but are unable to do anything due to incompetent allies or being outnumbered completely.

i like the doujin where he becomes a sex slave trap to the nobels to save his kingdom.

He out keikaku his enemies but pretending to have no but he actually has no keikaku

>Yang choosing to cuck out to democracy is the single most important scene of the show and typifies all the themes of the series.

Correct. He's outright offered a military dictatorship at one point in order to fix things and he refused it.

In the name of pride? The fuck is that supposed to mean? Do Japs really?

spot important characters

they're more or less prussians in space. military honor is a yuge deal.

I guess there is a bit of talent in the alliance but it's still a marked distance from the empire (them having to enlist Merkatz is proof enough).
It really feels like the alliance has Saddam Hussein's military going against Napoleon's but it takes a while to be defeated because of the deus ex machina.
Anyway I think we all agree, it's a matter of degree. The show is still excellent, but the alliance rests too much on one character. It's true strategically (which I already find a stretch), but also in terms of good non-military scene. Trunhilt is the only other interesting alliance character.
Is there even any user rooting more for the alliance?

>Is there even any user rooting more for the alliance?
Absolutely. I wanted the Alliance to win admittedly entirely because of Yang Wen-Li

Where do I watch LOGH ? I cant find it on Youtube like many old anime. Note that I prefer to watch the original one and not the new version

>Is there even any user rooting more for the alliance?
Me. Fuck Imperial bootlickers desu.

Admit it, you cried

I was rooting for Trunicht. He represented change we can believe in.

Gunbuster is the only anime worth a tear there, user

my point was more the talented Empire admirals seem to be often fooled by Alliance admirals(mainly Yang but a few othera as well.) Particularlly during Operation Ragnarok the only reason they won was because they outnumbered the alliance by so much. Even the final battle between Yang and Rein Yangs fleet just tears through the Empire fleet like its nothing. It kinda takes me outta the show a bit. Even during the Empire civil war whenever the inbred nobles listen to Merekatz they start to do well. It seems Rein isn't even really a genius when the plot needs him to be. Just the only semi competent person that has personal ambition. Kinda breaks with the messenging in the show though when we are constantly told how all of Rein's admirals are really good but rarely do they display talent.

torrents

Was hoping It would be less of a hassle than that. Bummer.

Part of the reason he's miles better than the majority of the rest of the Goldenbaum admirals is because they got their positions through nepotism

Sadly you'll have to torrent them. It was basically never licensed anywhere and I think DVD or Blu-Ray release has some re-drawn scenes that stand out because original cells were lost or something.

>incel gets a hatefuck from the roastie daughter of an enemy
>gets a son
>god fearing husband is sterile and raises his friend's son
>their broship is deep enough it doesn't even feel like cuckolry
>gets the final shot of the show
Didn't cry, but pressed F.

Only Yang's fleet manages to ever beat one of Reinhard's admirals. During the second half of the show with Reinhard crowned, he rarely even is at the frontlines. His admirals massacre the alliance with very little input from the emperor.
That's true of the morons of the noble rebellion (minus Merkatz). His high command following his takeover is entirely made of the officers he had handpicked before rising plus Fahrenheit who is Merkatz student.

>Just the only semi competent person that has personal ambition.
It's more like recognizing talented people and using them well is a talent unto itself. That's really what Reinhard is good at. Show heavily implies he would've self-destructed after he had no more enemies to fight or had "conquered the universe" for his sister.

I loved the ending of this show, which I almost never see about an anime..

there were some competent admirals and leaders in the empire because SOMEONE must've held it together, even if on a downward trajectory. those admirals were smart enough to get out of reinhard's way once he assumed power.

That isn't Julian.

I love these threads, but I'd prefer if these threads were limited to Yas Forums.

>ever going to Yas Forums
lol

the alliance is so fucked after their invasion of the empire they can only seem to muster two fleets at a time. Yang's 13th fleet and whatever else can be scraped together. The Empire should curpstomp but Bewcock manages two valliant defeats even though he is completely out gunned.

Who here immediately caught that Oberstein was responsible for Kircheis being disarmed the day he died? I was pleasantly surprised when it was brought up again in like episode 90

Kharlan looks super comfy

The imperial flagships on this show are spectacular to look at but are they any more resilient to damage than regular ships? It often seems like the ships on this show explode with one hit, are any of the ships more durable than others and how?

They may have addressed this at some point but it’s been a while since I watched the entire series.

LOGH is too good for Yas Forums

All they talk about is shonen shit and shipping

You don't want to be taking direct hits user.
I don't recall if they're more resilient but they're surely better equipped in general not to mention all the logistical shit required of a data/command center.

>Everybody but Yang, Reinhard, Kircheis, Merkatz and Bewcock don't even know basic tactics and are easily tricked
I mean, Reinhard would have wiped out the Braunschweigians during their first battle if Merkatz didn't come to their rescue, which is stupid because Merkatz told them not to do it

I like Arslan-senki ruined forced inclusion magic. I mean the whole world is based the crusades and very grounded, but then it had bullshit of magic wizard man appearing and shooting fireballs for no good reason

Oberstein did nothing wrong. Even Reinhard admits he is right about everything, and that's after indirectly causing the death of one of the only two people he cares about.
>I was pleasantly surprised when it was brought up again in like episode 90
The show is surprisingly consistent in that people don't seem to forget things three episodes after they happened, as is the anime standard. The kaiser being reminded of his propaganda stunt in Westerland from 50 episodes before is the only reason he let himself be weak in front of Mariendorf and ends up fucking and marrying her whereas he was deep into the platonic male love volcel path up to that point.

Seems the regular ships just blow up to high heavens the second they are touched. Several of the big ships take a few hits and are just pulled back. They also have time to send VIP crew in shuttles.

>shounen shit

>tfw only watched the first 26 episodes and was fucking shocked when Kircheis died
>could barely keep up with the gorillion names
Should I keep going?

Nope at all, he is great war strategist, but is incompetent about politics

Everyone starts dying do it gets more manageable

Yes, it's ok to take a break though. It's binge watchable, but the show was broadcast over ten years.
Leave the thread immediately though, I already have spoiled many moments, assuming anyone reading beyond OP already watched it.

Pretty sure the flagships have better shields or it's just plot armour

Alright I'm out, thanks lads
Oberstein is based as fuck so far though

>>could barely keep up with the gorillion names
You can tell it's a kino. In a standard story, most of the characters would be merged into two or three recurring characters. Huge cast means that anybody can die.

Oh shit.. The thread was moved to Yas Forums

Brace yourselves for shipping wars and shounen autism..
