ITT: post anime you’ve seen on theatres and your experiences
I saw Konosuba Legend of Crimson when it came out and it was pretty wholesome. I used it to celebrate my 18th birthday and went with a few friends. Unfortunately we sat in the front row because getting tickets was hard and sadly one of them acted like a asshole about something petty. But the experience ignoring that was amazing it was great going to see my favorite anime getting it's own movie and watching it in a theater full of fans. It felt that the jokes were funnier because the entire theater was laughing at them and made the show funnier.
I went to a very early showing so I almost had the theater to myself. God damn it was gorgeous, there's something about hitting the bass coming out of the blows hitting you out in movie speakers compared to using bass heavy headphones.
Dragon ball super broly was pretty cool
I also saw Mary and the witches flower, it was frustrating because I got all the way to the cinema that was showing the sub only to find they were sold out and had to go to another cinema to watch the dub instead. Not so much frustrating that I had to watch the dub as that I wasted so much time running around.
It had great animation too!
You could feel the collective arousal in the room when chelai stretched her vest out.
despite consuming anime since about 1992, i have never seen an anime in theatres.
i was gonna go for made in abyss but gorona.
I saw both Weathering with You and the recent rerelease of the Bebop movie in theaters. Seeing a truly high-quality 2D animation film in theaters is an incredible experience. I'd highly recommend it.
Watched it in a theater. I don’t think I’ll forget the experience. During the last 3rd of the movie when Taki-Mitsuha and Tessie were setting up explosives I suddenly needed to piss REAL BAD. (I downed and extra large soda at the start).
I didn’t want to miss anything so I held it in until the end.
Grave of the Fireflies, Totoro, Princess Kaguya (boring), and The Fire Rises
Watching Weathering with You is the reason I kinda "got back" into anime.
I always regret not having watched Your Name in the theaters.
>The Fire Rises
The theaters in my country don't bet much on anime, but recently they have been doing some effort. I went with some friends and it was full of couples. It was enjoyable but got a bit cringed out for watching anime in public by the side of random people and when the weeb music got pretty loud
Nothing besides a few Pogeyman films when I was a kid. They were pretty good I guess. Nowadays I live in a rural area and the only local cinema just shows normie shit
Madoka: Rebellion, Promare, Your Name, and Weathering With You.
Madoka and Promare had really obnoxious crowds (lots of clapping mid-movie, cheering, etc.), while the latter two's were pretty decent.
Oh I also saw promare in cinemas.
Saw digimon movie when i was a kid the stupid preshow cartoon was fucking horrible so much so few kid lost their shit and cry alot some even got kick out
>that feel when
I've seen a few from being invited by a friend but the one that left the largest impression was when I saw Fireworks. Didn't know anything about it, it was the only anime movie I went to see alone besides a Your Name re-watch and I did it on an impulse. The theater didn't give enough of a shit to test the screening beforehand so the picture was cut off on the bottom so you couldn't read the subtitles. Upon seeing that the 6 other people in the theater gasped and were murmuring among themselves. After like 1 minute of watching incoherent Japanese, a stereotypical fat neckbeard stood up from the row in front of me and bolted out of the theater to tell staff. I questioned my decision to be there for a few minutes until they stopped the movie and fixed it. The movie itself was mediocre at best.
Other movies I've seen in theaters: Boy and the Beast, Your Name, Mary and the Witch's Flower, Night is Short Walk on Girl, Millennium Actress and Grave of the Fireflies.
I don't understand why the Angelamon short makes some people so upset
Granted my first exposure to digimon was renting tthat movie so I saw that short before I saw digimon itself.
I watched the dub because my friend is a pleb that thinks reading is too hard.
Movie theaters are going to die eventually and I can’t wait.
When I went to see happy feet the film started like 15 minutes late
Shit film too.
Theatres are cool fuck you.
>tfw the movie starts
Oh yeah
Did you get molested in one or something?
This virus is rushing the process with new movie releases going immediately to streaming service. After this shit is over people are gonna start demanding it as an option.
Man, I love penguins but that movie was hot trash. I'm sorry you paid for it.
Rebellion. I got a poster and a little card drawing. It was a good time.
Your Name (9/10)
Dragon Ball Broly (9/10)
Weathering With You (10/10)
Enjoyed them all in the theaters. Felt the energy from the crowd during hype/funny moments. Sat super close and the visuals and audio were top notch.
Here, this is the shikishi I received at the Rebellion showing. This was back in January 2013.
never watched anime in theaters, we had tenki no ko but i didnt feel like going to the cinema.
Typical anime screening crowd:
>The loner obese neckbeards randomly seated across the theater
>The small group of 3-6 normal looking Asians in the back rows
>The obvious furry with neon colored hair that won't shut the fuck up down in front
>The fat fujos
>The cosplayers
>The 40 year old dude with pedophile glasses in the very front row to get a good view of the pantyshot
>The innocent family that thought they were taking their kid to a Disney movie
>(You)
>Kimi no na wa
only about 12 people so nobody noticed me tear up at the mountain top scene, 10/10 film
>Rebellion
locally owned kinoplex packed with people and cosplayers, overall a good experience though as nobody was obnoxious, had a nice chat at the subway stop about the movie with a couple guys, 9/10 film, homura did nothing wrong
>Heavens Feel p2
fairly fully theater in a big chain cinema, was perfectly fine until sakura kills shinji and then all the fat americans started clapping because apparently the idea that shinji is a tragic character not a comic book villain is too complicated for capeshit-infected american brains, still a solid 7/10 movie, mostly excited for the conclusion since itll be True End
I have one of these too but I dont have a picture of it to post
Which one do you have? I'm really happy with the Sayaka/Kyoko one.
When I watched Children of the Sea, there were exactly three people, myself included.
The other two were a couple who, at the end of the movie, had a "Well, that was it, why did we watch this anyway?" expression on their faces.
>a stereotypical fat neckbeard stood up from the row in front of me and bolted out of the theater to tell staff.
Based fat neckbeard, he could be reading this thread right now.
based
>Based fat neckbeard
What a hero
I also watched it in a mall cinema.
Twice - one in standard format and another in IMAX 2D
standard format has shit audio
IMAX 2d is glorious color porn - surprising since this is where Shinkai used some muted, gloomy colors.
I still believe Your Name is better, but I will also definitely doom the entirety of Tokyo for Hina. She's just too precious..
It was raining hard outside after I watched Tenki no Ko.
It was rainy for like 2 weeks after that. Pretty neat.
I would have rather pissed myself than miss the action lol. The last 45 minutes of your name is where it gets really kino
t. the fat neckbeard from that story
it was dogshit. i watched this with my friends and none of us knew what the fuck was going on and we didn't give a shit about the character or what it was about. the highlight of my experience watching this was when the 'climax' happened and the boy and the girl kissed, not because it is the climax of the movie, but because there's this one fucking guy who stood up and started clapping for some reason while the rest of the people in the room just sit in silence and confusion and it was pure cringe. i had a good kek with my friends when it happened. so the movie, 4/10, experience, 8/10
>The loner obese neckbeards randomly seated across the theater
>(You)
user why did you mention me twice?
I’m an idolshitter LLfag.
People bring their penlights and do WOTA during the song segments of the movies.
>Mandatory penis inspection, drop your pants
Wat do?
saw the Bebop film at an old two screen indie theater back in the day. We ragged on the friend who complained that they "replaced the music with shitty english songs"
AKIRA on the big screen is one of my most enjoyable theater-going experiences. I'm holding out for the day when I can see Redline in a theater.
Seeing anime on the big screen made me realize the importance of sound to the medium.
I wish I could’ve seen the Girls und Panzer Movie in theaters, must’ve sounded glorious.
"It's like I really AM Japanese!"
Saw Heaven's Feel at an anime movie festival.
It's not the worst movie I ever saw in theater (that's probably Last Airbender), but it might be the worst anime movie I've ever seen.
Only have seen two in theaters.
>The Legend of Crimson
Theater was packed and it was all in all a good experience. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in public. All the better when everyone else is losing their shit.
>Weathering With You
Saw a Tuesday evening showing that was the second to last at the theater (Subbed). I had the whole place to myself. Was a good time. Really enjoyed it.
>The reason cinema was invented.
>Related
I'm pissed I missed out on Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl because I can't even find a (legal) place to stream it. Not even a BD.
Thought about seeing Violet Evergarden Side-story in theaters, but couldn't find any showings near me.
>Also wasn't sure if I wanted to lose my shit in public.
Looking forward to 3.0+1.0, but I'm afraid that I might miss the showings because I'm just about to join the military.
Weathering With You>Your Name (At least pacing wise)
I've watched so much since 2015, center was the first one followed by the muse final live and it's listed chronologically in the pic through a loop until the recent love live fest. Worst
experience was the first one. The most normalfag one was Your Name where everyone in the theater was a fucking couple.
Are you perhaps a fellow flip
Forgot to add, LL Muse move was my worst because I watched during day 1 of screenings in a packed cinema. Fucker beside me was literally dissing every scene of the movie I don't even know why he was watching it that time and also sang like a retard during the singing scenes.
I had to rewatch the movie (because I really loved m's ;_;) again on a quiet weekday during my break and ended up watching with elderly people because it was a day where they get to watch movies for free here. At least they were just quietly sleeping inside the cinema.
It's one of my favorite Anime movies ever. Fuck you, faggot
Yes
i went and watched this and there was a girl sobbing next to me which made me feel bad.
>Saw Heaven's Feel part 2 in theatres
> Everybody laughed at the sex scene
> was talking to some random kid my friend new before the movie started,
> Mentioned something about our local anime convention,
> Guy unironically said "I would never go to that convention because. I went to comiket"
Oh...
do you watch alone?
>everybody laughed at the sex scene
This was the worst. It's such an important character moment
Weathering with You
about half full (all the good seats were taken), very enjoyable, everyone was silent except for a few chuckles at jokes
I remember a black guy sounding like a dork on the way out, I didn't disagree with anything he said it was just kind of odd hearing that kind of stuff said out loud
none, I hate going out
It was pretty nice and enjoyable, in my opinion my 2nd favorite Shinkai movie which beats “your name” but not “ 5 Centimeters Per Second.”
8/10 Very Good
