Yes the whole point is that Kubo wanted the end to be Ichigo's kid and Rukia's kid meeting. A continuation of the Death and the Strawberry bond that transcends across generations. Isshin x Masaki -> Ichigo x Rukia -> their kids. He could give less of a shit about IH and RR, same with 90% of the fandom. The end pairings are nothing more than a means to an end for having their kids meet up and continue the bond. This whole story was meant to be Ichiruki from the beginning, just not the way most people anticipated
