I'm afraid it was shit alternatively. You'd have one chapter of pure awesome, then one chapter of "It's not actually fun but I'm desperate to move the story that way".
Worse was how it misused his character, put them on a looney bus until he remembered how to use them again, not counting the extra magical stuff.
