The Dog is the secret boss after Akito is defeated.

In the old version Akito directly hit Hatori's eyes with a sake bottle, in the manga it was never clear how Akito did it and the show cleared up the issue for an example.

Anyway, the older show is more comedy focused.

The remake is a lot more faithful to the manga which was surprisingly pretty fucked up at times if you had only seen the old anime.

There are lots written by women but for a male audience primarily. The only ecchi series for women that I know of is Adekan.

I think that the level of perversion is not the factor that identifies the gender of the author.
It is how female characters are written and presented that reveals who is the author.

I don't know. Sailor Moon, Full Metal Alchemist, Inuyasha, Blue exorcist or Magus Bride are made by women and they tend to focus on innocent romance than lewd stuff. I think the only example of lewd female manga is Ranma 1/2 but technically is only a male character who show off his tits.

I was surprised that Spice & Wolf was written by a man, because it also has a very subtle romance focused storyline with very little pointless lewd fan service. I guess there are exception with both female and male manga writers.
