Does his origami costume transform as well if he uses his powers since clothes do? Regardless if it does its still the worse of the heroes powers since no company or sponsors are gonna want their logos out of view and it doesn't help that he isn't very good at fighting most of the time.

There is manga chapter where he transforms into the other heroes to beat up some crooks and turns into his costumed self the moment cameras arrived so no one realized what he looked like; if used right his powers are a real threat. The side materials are important for this type of characterization since the show didn't have enough run-time for it.
I think it was something along the lines of his actually being fat and an otaku weeb who uses his powers to look nice for his job, and later him wanting to add sumo moves into his routine in the last episode; the fanart was him being himself, in canon he is more of a nippon loving weeb but not really shown into anime stuff.
