It used to be so huge in the late 00's along with Touhou. What the hell happened Yas Forums?

There are still genuine waifufags. Most are on other bbs though. I don't feel like discussing waifuism with other people anymore since they all start shitposting immediately. Not so much a problem with waifuism rather with Yas Forums.

Touhou was always pretty niche but with a very dedicated fanbase.

Idt it was so niche. I knew people who hardly even watched anime but knew of Touhou and played it. We are talking 2012's here. There was even anime going on it. Nowadays I can hardly find or hear anyone who cares for it.

I was in support of it even back when I didn't have a waifu. Now that I do, I can appreciate the concept even more than before.

As for Touhou, I never once cared about it.

To be fair that was how it was first used in Azumanga Daioh.

It's probably the best thread in Yas Forums, though that's not saying much. It's also the only place where waifufags and husbandofags can really interact now.

I'm still far too inexperienced to know about most of those communities.

It's still pretty much a discord and a good portion of it is off-topic, which makes sense since a bunch of those posters are from Yas Forums and boards outside of Yas Forums. /c/ has the original waifu community from Yas Forums since the mods moved it from here.

Most anime girls have little to no merch, like my waifu.

Franchises like Fate, idolshit, and Touhou (although that just happens to have a lot of merch, the franchise itself is a drunkard's passion project) are the exception, not the norm.

That's what the anime and manga industry wants, though. You're supposed to replace waifus every season, so that you can buy new merchandise involving the newest seasonal waifu. If you have multiple waifus, then so much the better, because that means more opportunities of getting more money out of you. You'll get rewarded with new waifus in some anime and manga story tailor-made to your specific desires.

Do you want a cute nerdy blue-haired waifu? If it's summer, perhaps you should then get a hotblooded redhaired twintailed waifu with the tsundere personality trait.
In fall, perhaps you should start getting a kemonomimi motherly-type waifu. Fox waifus are popular for that season.

What matters is that you show your dedication to you're waifu harems by exchanging the money you scrounged up by whatever means (begging your parents who are ashamed of your existence and thus tolerate you staying in your home as a NEET and giving you money to support you, or actually going outside to work, or getting autismbux, whatever) for the merchandise.

Only those people with many waifus are good people.
