Pretty safe choices, I dunno what to say. I wish you'd add something more out-there so that we get what kind of faggot you are.

You're a lazy bastard who shouldn't enter 3x3 threads. This is forgiven however for including Danna.

You like a specific type of manly men. Nice?

I’m using my phone, my computer is unusable

Okay. But that doesn't explain why you'd upscale the image.

High quality choices. But what is mid right?
Also, forgive the LQ images, I will remake this some other day.

I assume you're the same guy. Quite good taste. At the same time diverse and giving a clear image of you and your likes. I should read Kakushigoto soon enough.

You pretty much said it yourself.

So you're into tearjerkers... but at the same time you have Haruhi there... weird. I didn't even know there are any people that like Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsuna Koto, much less people that'd put it in their 3x3. I'm not sure if this is good or bad.

>just a hunch but I think you might like Shaft
Maaaybe. Not that you're one to talk.
9/9, only Alien 9 I did not quite appreciate as much as the rest.

srsbsns.
Why Katanagatari, though? I guess nisio's writing by itself brings enough of an 80s feel, huh. Because what I appreciate in Katanagatari is significantly different from what I appreciate in the rest of the shows in your 3x3.
And fuck you, Nono is the best Gunbuster character.

The more balanced oldfag taste. But you remind me that I have to finish Cutie Honey. My disk died last time I started it. And, considering everything else, I should give Sirius one more chance too.

The more balanced youngfag taste. Not bad, not bad.
>But what is mid right?
It's Alien 9, if I am correct. Go watch it right now anyway, it's just 4 eps.

What do you mean by that? You also posted it earlier, is it negative or positive?

That the shows are serious business for serious people, as opposed to more silly and carefree stuff like Tonari no Seki-kun. It's not particularly positive or negative. Though if you ask me to choose one, it'd be that it's positive.

I find it refreshing that you crosslinked and rated posts from different threads, especially considering that one of them is a bump and the other is talking about Star Wars and Kurosawa.

Katanagatari is plenty serious at a lot of points. In fact, I'd say it takes itself seriously most of the time outside of a few gags to break things up. I wouldn't say it has an 80's feel either. If you compare it to things like Ninja Scroll or The Hakkuden, it's radically different in it's pacing and tone. The pacing of Katanagatari is very slow and methodical, which it does well because it actually uses it's long episode length to flesh out the characters and give each of the fights proper build up. Nisio also manages to actually deliver the core themes in a way that's alot less messy than Bakemonogatari and the stylised visuals also feel like they have a clear purpose rather than just being flashy for the sake of it.

The only thing I'd say it does have in common with 80's anime is that it very much adheres to the "rule of cool" for a lot of things. Everything ride down to the experimental soundtrack and character mannerisms is done to make the series seem as stylish as possible. Basically, the whole series is style AND substance, but for some reason a lot of people miss the substance despite the show beating you over the head with it.

>Katanagatari is plenty serious at a lot of points.
Oh yeah, of course. You pretty much hit the nail on the head why I enjoy it so much: the methodical and slow telling of the story. Utena for example is a lot less methodical in its own ways. Not that this is a downside or something.
Also Togame, of course.
Even as I have *monogatari in my 3x3, I agree that Katanagatari makes for the better experience of watching it once. My criteria for my 3x3 however are that I rewatch the show at least once per year, that I obsess over it and its characters, and so on, so *monogatari edged out Katanagatari. Then again, my favourite *monogatari season has always been Nise, which people almost never appreciate until they rewatch it after going through everything else.

>The only thing I'd say it does have in common with 80's anime is that it very much adheres to the "rule of cool" for a lot of things.
You're right, this explains it. I overlooked this aspect of Katanagatari while thinking about it.

Utena only worked because of it's length IMO, and even then it has a tendency to repeat itself occasionally. Of course, Ikuhara was clearly just sticking to what he knew structure wise from Sailor Moon S, but Katanagatari has a great structure that I'm suprised more shows don't copy. 12 Swords, 12 Episodes. It's the absolute perfect length and they just lengthen the episodes to make sure it doesn't feel rushed. My biggest problem with a lot of single cour and sometimes even 2 cour series is that they feel rushed, which is exactly the pitfall Ikuhara stumbled into with his more recent work.

I've always felt upset that shows like Rose of Versailles and Oniisama e seem impossible to make these days because studios don't want to gamble on 39-40 episode long shows unless they're battle shounen. Katanagatari's 50 minute long episode structure might offer a way to have shows with that kind of length and depth again.

newfag here, what is the anime with the frog and the gentleman with a pineapple on his head?

>I've always felt upset that shows like Rose of Versailles and Oniisama e seem impossible to make these days because studios don't want to gamble on 39-40 episode long shows unless they're battle shounen.
True. And even adaptations tend to be one cour only, because that's about as much as needed for advertising the original work. At least we still get a lot of two cour shows. Even if they are split cour. 26 episodes is about enough if you play your cards right. That being said, the last year or two we also get a lot of readaptations of old stuff because of all the overseas licensing. But I'm not sure this will give us a long adaptation of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou for example. It'll be mostly battle shonens, because that's what the overseas execs want.

An actually complete Yokohama adaptation would be great, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm just waiting until they inevitably do a Rose of Versailles adaptation-- the 50th anniversary is in 2 years, Ikeda will probably die within the next decade or so and they already attempted to make a RoV adaptation in '09. Another adaptation of some form is inevitable, but honestly, I don't think there's anyone alive apart from maybe Anno who could do it justice.

Pineapple on head guy is Sasuke from Hyouge Mono.

Because the only people pretending to have seen every anime in existence are trolls.

If you'd spend less time shit posting on Yas Forums you'd know how easy it is to have watched everything that gets posted in here.

Uchouten Kazoku + Hyouge Mono. Other grids you need assistance with?

If your goal is to have watched everything that gets posted here, your goal is shit.

Attached: [HG-Raws] Mewkledreamy - 01 (TVA 1280x720 x264 AAC).mp4_[00:07:28.740].png (1280x720, 689.56K)

>how easy it is to have watched everything that gets posted in here.
Hint: It isn't. Hundreds of different things get posted in 3x3 threads. Even if you had seen 3000 different anime, not counting shorts and other minor stuff idiots use to bolster their viewcounts, the probability that all things being posted here are among those are minimal.

If your goal is to have watched the stuff that has been posted in 3x3 threads, you can do it. These threads are mostly samefags who post the tired old same stuff, after all.

But I have no idea why you'd do this. I prefer to have seen 3000 anime that I like instead of the 300 that get posted in 3x3 threads.

Without shitposting can someone explain to me why Hunter x Hunter is on their 3x3? What separates it from other WSJ manga? Seems like nothing special compared to what they usually run.

Less shit posting, more watching anime.

>If your goal is to have watched the stuff that has been posted in 3x3 threads, you can do it.
Why the hell would that be your goal? Watch the anime you'd like and enjoy, not what some anons online like.

>But I have no idea why you'd do this.
Exactly.

Go back to MAL, where other people argue like you and see watching anime as homework.

You're still here?

>without shitposting
>hxh
don't you think you're asking a little much?

You can't watch what you like because you don't know if you'll like it before watching it. These threads are basically rec threads for people who aren't already versed so it'd be pretty normal to pick up stuff based on other people's favorites.
