I can't picture what Tarzan's psychology would be if this is going to be a 100 chapter extension on the manga, trying to blend Muzan and Tanjiro's motivations or nature is completely impossible. If this is just some random new personality controlling Tanjiro's body it's just so fucking hacky, and if this gets resolved in 8 chapters it's even more hacky

Muzan was pretty much laser-focused on getting to Nezuko. He didn't really care about any of the others (barring possibly Tanjiro, assuming he planned on making him his successor if he lost).
Also, the amount of blood it takes to get someone to become a demon is pretty specific, otherwise it functions as a deadly fast-acting neurotoxin. Hell, even if it takes it might still kill them if they're too weak. On top of all that, breath users take a while to convert. It just wasn't feasible in his position.

Secondly Muzan normally doesn't have any mental control over his demons. If a demon slayer didn't go feral they'd just fight him. He could headpop them, so the whole exercise would just be pointless.
I guess Tarzan is a special case because Muzan had completely enveloped a near-dead Tanjiro and used 100% of his dying effort to demonize him and "gave him his will", whatever that means TBD
