Code geass is fucking great

Woah what the fuck Yas Forums? I almost dropped this anime because of its retarded parts like how the kain character is a prince or how his friend is the son of the last japanese prime minister or the phonecall in the shower but if you go all past that it tells a very good tale.
Thanks for the reccomendation,it is still covered in bullshit but there's a diamond in that pile of shit.

The bullshit is what makes it truly great you faggot.

For some reason I feel like the creator first had the main idea (main characters, Geass, political situations, overall plot) and then decided to add whatever was popular at the time so that more people would watch it:
>Mecha? Check
>High school setting? Check
>Pure comic relief episodes in said HS setting? Check
>Lots of female characters for the sake of pure fanservice? Double check
Seriously, doesn't the Code Geass manga just drop the mecha altogether?

Yeah i kinda get it. I mean the fact that he's a prince works well to make him out a selfish asshole that only works for his own interests. I love that about storytelling, makes you question your morals and viewpoints and shit.

That is my exact thought, all this shit just doesnt fucking colide well. I mean sure the mecha could be inserted so that it would make battles exciting but the fucking harem/high school shit?
Oh and another thing in what fucking country can a 17 year old be a god damn solider? And what kind of general would send him to high school in the midst of war????

>makes you question your morals and viewpoints and shit
too bad so many Geassfags manage to miss this point altogether

>Oh and another thing in what fucking country can a 17 year old be a god damn solider?
In the USA you can actually enlist at 17 with your parents' permission.
I also heard that in the UK you can join at 16, but they won't send you into a combat zone until you're 18, not sure how true it is.
In any case, "let's send him to high school full of kids who despise Elevens/Japanese" was a pretty stupid idea. I don't remember who suggested that, but I wouldn't be surprised if it came from Euphy

Didn't Suzaku actually join the army at 14 or some insane shit like that?

How is that insane?

That's because most weebs are actually pretty left leaning on account of the fact they know they are worthless but don't want to work on themselves so they immediately reject the idea that britannia might not be as bad as they are originally made out to be because "nazi bad, racism bad"

I guess they do that in africa all the time so it's pretty normal, statistically speaking.

To be fair, it's not like Britannians cared about such details as "this Eleven who wants to die for us is a little bit too young". Most likely they just recruit anyone who is willing to join and can pass basic training

Its only modern retardation to draw a line at 18 or 21 and treat everyone the same below it.

>That's because most weebs are actually pretty left leaning
Honestly no idea why you think that. I'd say most are either (closet) right wingers or libertarians.
>britannia might not be as bad as they are originally made out to be because "nazi bad, racism bad"
The problem IMO is that they're self-contradictory. The Britannians claim that their society is based on social darwinism and survival of the fittest, but in practice it's far from that: idiots like Clovis and half of the royal family get appointed to important positions based purely on their parentage (ditto for all the dumbass aristocrats), and the Number system is pretty stupid as well. I'd have more respect for Britannia if it was actually a hardcore meritocracy (consistently so; exceptions like Suzaku don't really count). And Suzaku would have had an actual point, making the moral conflict more ambigous and believable.

Pretty sure it was Euphie. Also pretty sure Suzaku went hard at the idea.

Sure that sounds retarded but if you think about it all these princes and princesses are peetty skillful in battle so i guess the writers kinda half ass it but still make a pass for me when it comes to their contradictions.

>all these princes and princesses are peetty skillful in battle
are they?

>all these princes and princesses are peetty skillful in battle
Only Schneizel, Cornelia and Lelouch showed any of their combat or stragetician capabilities.

Cornellia has left a big impact on my opinion i still haven't watched the whole thing so i guess there are more royals that are useless?

There's like a hundred more

All the royalty that we're actually introduced to seem to be competent enough. Cornelia and Schneizel both singlehandedly outplayed entire world powers. Cornelia is a genius pilot capable of dueling superior frames on her own as well. Euphemia seems to have finished university at a very young age at the beginning of the show, if she was meant to be around the same age as Lelouch and Suzaku.
Clovis wasn't actually incompetent either, he just got outplayed by Lelouch because Lelouch knows how to press his buttons. Oddyseus was also competent enough to hold the front against the EU when Schneizel was away, he was just indecisive and seemed a bit soft. He seemed aware of his own failings as well, which is why he basically just went along with Schneizel.

Counterpoint:
Those were lies by the Emperor. He even admits he doesn't believe that.

IMO mecha were one of the worst things about Code Geass, especially in S2. The battles pretty much went from "who is a better tactician" to "who has the latest mecha that makes every other mecha obsolete"

I dont get whats so retarded about them being such, its not like its never addressed.

dropped on episode 1, felt like generic hero shit

How many did the king fuck?????

That's exactly what i almost did as well but so far it's really good when it comes to politics and characters.

>All the royalty that we're actually introduced to
That's just it though, there are many others who are not

He had 108 concubines, iirc

The coincidences are too much and too stupid to take seriously. It gives off the mary sue vibe where everyone loves the character and they have everything they want. They are royalty and they have super powers and a harem and that's just the gayest most generic power fantasy I've ever seen, however it did surprise me when the main character turned out to be a selfish asshole. I loved that.

Chad as fuck.

will probably try it again sometime. just didn't like how it started off.

Eh, I suppose it was more political than anything. Marianne (Lelouch's and Nunnally's mom) was the only commoner who made it into the harem (on the account of her mecha pilot skills) with the rest of concubines belonging to various noble families

Sort of, only Lelouch is really a douchebag

Karen is best girl
CC a shit

best girl is suzaku

Yes, it's full of plotholes
Yes, it lacks some writting
Yes, the animation wasn't the best
Yet there it goes, one of the most entertaining rides of the entire anime medium.

What does the recap movies change from the anime? I want to watch the resurrection movie, but I'm not sure if I'll miss something.

Schneizel and Cornelia were pretty much the only ones who actually deserved their respective positions.
Clovis was an idiot who made a ton of mistakes and deserved everything that came his way.
Euphy and Odysseus were okay, but not good enough for the responsibilities they were entrusted with. That's the problem: you've got a ton of people who would be better than the royals at doing important jobs, but you can't appoint them to said jobs because of all the quasi-feudal shit going on.
(The Knights of Round were pretty much the only exception)

you won't miss anything if you watch neither

this

>It gives off the mary sue vibe where everyone loves the character and they have everything they want. They are royalty and they have super powers and a harem
Huh?
Lelouch and Nunally are no longer royalty since the Emperor disowned them, and they have to hide because Britannia thinks they are dead. Besides, Lelouch's foreigner status actually works against him among the Japanese rebels.
Suzaku is despised by most Japanese by betraying his homeland and his father's ideas and joining the Britannian army.
I can't remember anyone in the show who actually has everything he wants.
Oh, and the powers thing isn't directly correlated to being royalty, it's about whether a Geass owner makes a contract with you or not.

Did you watch the show? None of those things affect the characters in a good way and are either flaws to them or detrimental.

Does Lelouch even count as royalty anymore?
I mean, aside from the whole became an Emperor by finally realizing how he should use his Geass thing?

Code Geass is one of the greatest anime of all time.

And that's another reason i like it. Like i said it gives off the vibe, but it isn't like that. That's what surprised me.

Obviously.

Good choice, but I prefer the Pizza Girl

Karen loses in every continuity. She'll never be apart of Lelouch's harem

Kaguya will just have to find some replacement s then.

I really don't like how R3 played out. Made Lelouch coming back too easy imo with a lack of consequence.
