Michiru finds out her BFF is still alive and it looks like she's being used by a cult to gain influence over the Beastmen population.
Turns out she's the mastermind behind the whole thing and manipulates Michiru into bringing her to the city mayor. When confronted about this later, she coldly brags about how she would've found a way to see the mayor with or without her help. There are several foreshadowing moments that lead up to this, such as how Nazuna was expecting Michiru to sneak into her tent. Showing no surprise whatsoever, it's played off as a light-hearted wink-nudge-nudge.
I'd like to know where this myth of TRIGGER not being able to tell a good story comes from.
Some people may have grievances with the pacing and world building but even they have to admit, that build up between Michiru and Nazuna was spot on. It's strongly suggested multiple times that Nazuna was in dire need of help, but this was a trick on the studio's behalf and we fell for it.
