The author is trying to make us care for what essentially is a doll, via the MC. It fails constantly to relate to the readers, it's just like "hey well she can be cool too look at this!" then nothing. Compared to side characters who has actual development. IIRC the scene is animeonly as the WN didn't have it, the LN volumes 8-9 were being written during anime production so they could be changed to include it
