I'm on the fence about the show (seems ok, nothing special, nothing terrible) but I don't like kid MCs. Dropped the bookworm isekai for that reason.

Pretty sure the novel mentions in the prologue how the MC takes over his existence so no he's ded, gone, annihilated etc maybe they go back and explain it in more detail but I wouldn't know.
