Doesn't really fit, since Sendo is actually a good character who legit sees Ippo as a rival, because they're the same 'type' of boxer. Vegeta's rivalry from Goku comes from his self-imposed jealousy and inferiority complex with Goku, that turned him into accepting Goku, then being a stubborn rival who still doesn't understand that Goku will forever keep going and looking for new people to challenge. Goten and Trunks is about as close you'd get to a Dragon Ball comparison to Ippo and Sendo, in that they're both rivals and best friends. If you want to stretch it, it's Goku and nu-Broly at the end of DBS: Broly.

Because, to Sendo, he was 'right' about Ippo not getting weaker, despite what Takamura said. On top of the prospect of him not going into his match to just beat the guy who beat the guy that beat him twice, he's motivated by the a future where it may very well be him vs. Ippo for the world title, this is assuming, in Sendo's mind that, he beats both Gonzales and Ricardo and Ippo comes back into the ring.
