It's bad and ends in absolutely nothing, which is sad because I enjoyed the first 3 or so episodes since it looked like it had a direction.
It's definitely written to be a long form videogame with dungeons and shit, not for a story. Sometimes witches will just appear, the megucas will fight them for 3 seconds, and go back to the plot as if nothing happened.
I like the premise so much that it makes me angry how wasted it is.

Yeah, the premise is interesting. Its about the only thing you can do without retreading the original series but they adapted it way too faithfully (although some people claim they didnt adapt it faithfully enough). The whole thing feels very directionless.

the adapation isn't faithfull to the source, which is why reco feels more like a gatari anime than a madoka anime.

I expected a show that delivers in its premise and mysteries while developing a cast of characters after being introduced instead of changing focus every 2 episodes. I also expected every event to have some sort of relevancy, if not narrative at least emotionally, instead of being episodic adventures where nothing really matters. I expected the character cameos to be important and deliver something interesting to the story instead of a pathetic attempt at fanservice.

but dedicating entire episodes to a sidecast that will not return instead of developing the actual characters we are going to spend time with is ridiculous.

After we spend a bunch of episodes with Momoko's group they dissapear from the plot until the end of the story when they join the Magius. The entire cast that hangs out with Iroha is irrelevant plot-wise except for Yachiyo who is presented as a co-protagonist by the promotional material and the fact that she's the ED character and yet she is not relevant until like episode 5. Baby Kyubey literally doesn't do anything even though it's presented as a mystery. The show doesn't know what characters it wants to talk about, and make them one-shot and one-dimensional, when they only have 12 episodes to tell whatever they wanted to tell, which was nothing but some sidequest material here and there.

momoko trio apeared again at the end of ep5 and 11, and momoko herself apeared also in 12. if you want a mystery as big as baby qb to be solved before the end of the first half of the show you are watching the wrong franchise.
yachiyo played a big role even before ep5, and tsuruno presence is big as well. sana arc ended too close to the finale to expect presence for her, annd felicia is the kyoko expy so there's that.
