The main difference between Hamazura and Mikoto's arc isn't about what comes across as more meaningful to the general audience, that's subjective. She wants to aid Touma, protect him but her powerlessness and being left out is why she wants to chase him,it takes root in inferiority complex and insecurity sure and it might not be relatable to all, but we are forgetting that Mikoto always had a habit of taking things to extreme, whether it's going for days without eat or sleep to save the sisters, or her wanting to sacrifice herself to protect the people around her in Daihaseisai arc. Her main conflict and how it relates to Touma is always about wanting to protect the people around her but not having power like him to resolve situations as has been shown in Railgun manga quite a lot with how she berates herself and hailes him as the hero and as well as her being in love with him. Taking everything into consideration--her status, her power, it's always about her power not being enough. She isn't some brat who is being greedy, WW3 arc came as a reminder to her that despite her being able to stop a nuke she still couldn't save him.

Whether or not she is headed for tragedy is another issue and if she is then so be it, she has power hunder issues, for her it's been a theme that has been coming to light from as early as OT3. Is what Hamazura is doing more emotionally healthy at wanting to protect the people he loves? Sure. Is what Mikoto trying to do wrong? No, but she is messed up as a person much more than Hamazura, and so her arc makes sense and has meaning in regards to her characterisation.

The real question is would Accelerator cleanly nullify her powers or would there be some sort of strange effect? If theres a strange effect, does it leave him vulnerable or would it just make him mad and start looking for the annoying attacker
