Do you actually like Japanese humor?
Do you actually like Japanese humor?
Of course
>failing in first world country
yes
Of course.
Just look at Jahy-sama.
If you think that anime comedy is somehow bad, thank your lucky stars you've never seen IRL Japanese variety show comedy.
It's mind-bogglingly awful.
it's certainly better than "ironic" humor
lucky channel is peak japanese comedy, i think i only laugh 3 or 4 times a season of anime except lucky channel
Jap humor is genuinely awful because they’re incredibly disconnected from reality. Maybe the nukes gave them all autism or some shit
wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
It's better than British humor.
its better than anything youd find in western shows
literally cant think of a country with worse humor so you're correct
No. There isn't a single joke to come out of Japan that's funny.
No, the only ones that do it somewhat right are the azumanga daioh manga, konosuba and yuru yuri sometimes
t. Amerishart who only likes pee pee poo poo jokes
>character says something "shocking"
>EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
bravo, nips
I feel bad for people with no sense of humor.
Most of it, no
found the snaggletooth
Iya. It's in line dengan humor humor orang timur. Kenapa emangnya, OP?
joshiraku was underrated as fuck. couldn’t stop myself from bopping my head to the ED.
>character violates a social norm
>other character jumps in saying "Don't violate that social norm!"
This is your punchline for each of the next 40 strips.
As an American, you better take that back, motherfucker.
One of the better jokes I've seen in anime was in Overlord, believe it or not. When Ains is traveling with Albedo and one of the maids to retrieve something from their vault and we're introduced to the NPC he had made: Pandora's Actor. Here he is trying to put up an eminent exterior and he's internally cringing at his wehraboo creation that's completely over the top and camp, especially in front of the women.
Funny situational comedy that didn't involve slapstick!
no, the only funny anime are milky holmes, mitsudomoe and murenase
yeah? u aint gonna do shit
You should read/watch delinquent manga and anime. The humor is usually in line with jaded 4channers.
Yes.
BASED
> jaded 4channers
cringe
Okay fine, anons. Are you cringe free now?
Most of their humor sucks but I really enjoy the whole "petty or stupid thing is treated super serious" schtick like in grand blue or prison school. We don't get enough of that in the west anymore.
I only laught at post-ironic metaphors under four layers of cynical determinism
So Level-E?
You want me to hurt you, user?
i wouldnt be watching the show if I didn't find it funny or interesting now would I?
>Do you actually like Japanese humor?
Sure. When it's funny.
Yes but Translations ruin them.
Japanese people act like that in real life constantly.
So what are Korean and Chinese humor like or do they just copy off of each other?
You either love it or hate it. I don't think it jives with Europoors and overly cynical Burgers though. They're usually the ones who go "Not Funny, Didn't Laugh"
>nichijou ep 1
>shit falling from sky
>haha at least no raw food fell on me
>raw food falls on her
>HAHA I CAN'T BELIEVE IT, SOMETHING RAW FELL ON HER
Easiest drop of my life. Do Japs not know how to subvert expectations?
It's the only media I still consume, so sure, I used to enjoy some Western stuff that I had yet to find the equivalent of in Japan (and that includes humor and other genres) but that's all dead now so I've forgotten what it was.
No. That's why I watch anime.
yes I wound up getting interested in Japan as a whole because of Downtown and later on a whole bunch of 2ch flashes
of course not everything is going to be good and just like everywhere else there's a lot of shit
Believe it or not we're getting the cream of the crop with anime. Jap's regular TV comedy is (usually)goddamn awful.
well duh
Live action comedy in general is embarrassing. Overrated shit like Monty Python and Jackass never got a HAHA from me.
I can't speak for Korean but Chinese comedy is usually either this
en.wikipedia.org
Or skits about daily life involving a group of people acting it out. Basically it's like a more primitive form of rakugo. It's not very stimulating but it does get older people like my grandmother to laugh, and my parents to a lesser extent, but it's very culture sensitive. You have to understand that most of this was descended from Chinese opera and the censorship environment of mainland China hindered a lot of development.
Hong Kong humor evolved kind of differently, but it's more on the scale of things like what you would see in early Stephen Chow films, and the game shows were somewhat original for a while but you see a lot of the humor lifted and inspired by Japanese style skits and whatnot more and more nowadays, even though the influence was there from the beginning.
>What is a brick joke and why should I wait for it?
I like it when I understand it. ;_;
Germany.
life is hard being american isn't ?
RIP TL notes
I learned Japanese by now, but you'll still be missed
Xiangsheng looks to be more akin to Manzai. As far as fiction goes, Mainland humor (or at least what I've experienced of it) is interesting because they really appreciate black comedy, specifically like what the Coen Brothers make. Devils on the Doorstep is probably is the most extreme example of this.
God I love Gaki no Tsukai
Yeah, I don't watch that stuff so it's just what I observed from what my parents would watch. But that is what happens when you have to do this type of stuff under heavy censorship, which makes sense.
I still bemoan Hong Kong humor dying, It had a chance to be its own thing and it died as badly as its cinema did.
