Anime often spells a death knell for gacha games though. Any boost to the playerbase is often temporary and unless the game has massive backing or the devs do something right or are lucky, the game ends up shutting down.

There's two types. A completely new project where it's essentially an original and the game comes after, or the type where the game already existed and gets an anime based on it. The former is more likely to produce good shows than the latter. Although there are exceptions like Last Period where they just ignore the existing gacha story and the anime staff does whatever the fuck they want, with good results.

I love isekai LN adaptations, enjoyed a fair number of VN adaptations, and Akanesasu Shoujo's still the only gacha animu I liked so far.
So many of them try to run with fuckhuge casts despite lacking enough episodes to introduce the characters properly and you get an incoherent mess of a story.

Microtransactions and the methods incentivizing consumers to engage with them allow for getting as much money out of an individual consumer as they're willing to spend, as opposed to single time or even recurring fixed payments. They're a logical step in a business's pursuit to maximize its revenue.
