Arguably the greatest manga ever made

Honestly I'm just sick of Musashiwank. Where's my fucking Musui's Story adaptation? Unlike Musashi talking about what a cool awesome badass he is Katsu Kokichi's autobiography is a lot more entertaining. It's almost literally a delinquent story with a samurai MC.

>eventually has a son named Rintaro
>tells a story about how one time a dog bit his son's balls
>his son grows up to be Katsu Kaishu, founder of the Imperial Navy
>gets thrown in the cage again
>gets out, decides he doesn't want to be family head and passes it to his son so he can keep boozing and fighting
>eventually repents and dictates his autobiography as a moral lesson but really it's just him talking about how awesome being a boozing and fighting shithead was
>dies in his 40s after a life spent partying hard

The art is amazing, but is correct.

I didn't read the book this story is based on. What can Yas Forums say about it? Is the plot different?

I've read that it's a different approach, that all of the Introspection 101 stuff from the manga is Inoue's contribution. Quite frankly, that makes a lot of sense.

having read both, the introspection and Musashi character development stuff is mostly unique to Vagabond. the focus is a lot more about everyone else in the og.

Creating an ending to a longstanding or critically acclaimed work is very high pressure. You somehow have to get a grasp on the best endings around and try to surpass them, but in a mangaka's case, if they wait too long they'll lose their touch for how they drew at their peak. So ideally they should probably take a long hiatus to do it, but it can't be too long.

If you want off the top of my head I'll just name 3: Hunter X Hunter, Houseki no Kuni, and Monster.
These aren't necessarily the best stories I've read but just the ones that first came to me.

I like the introspection and the fleshing out of what combat was. How simply being able to control your emotions during a life and death struggle puts you at a massive advantage, one of the hardest parts about regularly getting in deadly duels is just being able to maintain your cool.
I also loved how realistic the combat was. Some of the best fights in the series are over in 10 seconds. Quick subtle movements, both men reading each others movements in high intensity situations and making swift decision based on the smallest things like their opponent being slightly off balance or bumping their foot into a root.

If all you got from this manga was pretty art and Musashi being sad than you're a complete fucking retard, this is Yas Forums though so I shouldn't be surprised.

Vagabond is the one on infinite hiatus, Blade of the Immortal ended a long time ago and the author is deep into some new work while someone else does a Blade sequel. Blade's entire ending arc sucked though so don't bother reading it.

It's been years, but lets end this meme. Let's point out why Vagabond is garbage meant for the lowest common denominator.

First of all, the characters are trash, the MC is by far one of the whiniest characters I've had to deal with, his philosophical rambles are at the level you would expect a 12 year old to write at. The plot for the first 60 or so chapters is literally him whining nonstop, literally "woe is me" every fucking chapter. Nonstop.

How do you expect me to take the characters seriously when they feel like they where written by a 12 year old? Who reads this shit and thinks the characters have any depth at all? Might as well listen to Linkin Park while reading this trash.
But nevermind the characters, lets talk about the story. For a supposedly serious seinen, Vagabond is more akin to shone trash. The MC grew up poor, suffers from poor nutrition for most of the manga, but for reasons unknown he manages to remain more fit then the average person. Are we supposed to turn our brains off for this shit?

The manga manages to pull some of the most bullshit power ups imaginable that would make even the most egregious shonen blush. Take when he fought the brothers of the dojo. Musashi has been starving for a couple of days, gets wounded while fighting the brothers at the dojo, and is on the brink of passing out. Yet when 50 fucking people rush him he manages to kill all 50 of them for no fucking reason at all. The fuck is this shit? This is the kind of trash you would expect from fucking Fairy Tail. It gets even worse when you find out in real life Musashi was a well known pussy that assasinated Kojiro outside of a fight and ran away like a pussy.

Vagabond is complete horseshit. You need to have a very low IQ to think the story is in any way good. Get some taste faggots.

What's the point if you're going to be mega-weebs about all the Nip terms and titles but still mirror the damn manga anyway? I get that this was in the early days of manga translation, but it's horribly distracting. Also, Frank Miller sucks. They wanted to use his star power to sucker in Yas Forumsfags back then, but did they really have to continue getting another worse Western artist after he stopped doing the covers?
