We all know that A Cruel Angel's Thesis would most likely be the best anime OP of all time if someone tried to get a common consensus across all the anime connoisseurs out there.
However, with the ED it is not quite as clear cut. What do you think the best candidate for that would be?
I wouldn't say MOST Iconic, but definitely up there, it would easily make top 5.
Adrian Jones
If netflix didnt fuck with the show I think the ED would be more clear cut as the casual western audience would know fly me to the moon as the ED instead of Rei's theme
I was going to post this as well. I'm in agreement with you. Maybe not number one, but it was the first thing that popped into my head when I was thinking of a good ED. I just don't like how many normies have flocked to the show.
Ayden Gonzalez
If by iconic you mean well known, well liked and easily recognisable then Cowboy Bebop's "Tank" is the most likely answer for OPs. Personally I'd go with >Asterisk (BLEACH) >Howling (DARKER THAN BLACK: Kuro no Keiyakusha) >Re-Sublimity (Kannazuki no Miko) >Out of Control (Psycho-Pass) >Raison d'etre (Claymore) as the ones I remember best and love the most. EDs is tougher; most people know only meme ones like "STUDYxSTUDY" from Highschool DxD (though I admittedly like that one too). Since it's mostly subjective I choose to cast my vote for >Roll the Dice (Thunderbolt Fantasy: Tōriken Yūki 2)
Jaxson Stewart
These are good picks but this is the best pick
Ryder Wright
This thread feels very formal. How about a strawpoll with the top ten or so EDs? It would need a new thread though, wouldn't be very useful buried at the bottom of this one.
Ryder Young
Pokemon is the most iconic OP, anyone who disagrees is wrong
Leo Watson
...Fuck, you're right. You don't even need to watch anime to know it.
Thomas Ward
Well Bakemonogatari's is the best.
Nathan Stewart
Kappa Mikey best OP
Jaxson Gomez

Nolan Carter
As far as iconic goes, this
Chase Cooper
I mean yeah, as much as I want to argue for Evangelion, you're objectively right
Owen Ross
the best ed's in anime are usually found in shitty unpopular anime so you'd have to dig around those for that but in terms of popularity the most popular anime ed in both the west and japan would probably be eva's one too
Christian Watson
I wouldn't call this anime shitty or obscure, but I always liked this ED and thought it deserved more attention
People really don't understand what iconic mean huh. As expected of Yas Forums. >look this is my favourite ED of my favourite obscure generic anime 17869
>obscure generic anime Nigger the shows listed above are considered popular shows.
Iconic refers to songs that most people, even casuals, would know and would always bust out in karaoke no matter how shit the show is, and so far this thread hits most of them right in terms of ED
Robert Turner
Evangelion's OP as a whole package (music and visuals) is probably the top, but music alone I would say the original Helsing contests it. it doesn't get much catchier than this youtu.be/9KH-kpFKFU0
It's Mezase Pokemon Master or Cha-La Head-Cha-La by far, not bebop not haruhi, eva is up there though, but certainly not all the other random shit in this thread
Logan Sanders
Bouken Desho Desho > Cruel Angel's Thesis idk why it got overshadowed by Hare Hare Yukai so much, it's better imo For ED sure Hare Hare Yukai is up there but i also love the remix of Fly me to the Moon Eva uses In general they both have amazing music Bouken Desho Desho - Cruel Angel's Thesis Hare Hare Yukai - Fly me to the Moon God Knows / Lost My Music - Komm Süsser Tod Haruhi S1 has the best OP and ED imo but i don't dislike Super Driver or Tomare either Also Lain and Madoka have amazing OP and ED too
Hudson Martin
>connoisseurs It's connaisseur stupid american.
Luke James
A connoisseur (French traditional (pre-1835) spelling of connaisseur, from Middle-French connoistre, then connaître meaning "to be acquainted with" or "to know somebody/something.")
Alexander Bell
By this rationale, this would be the most iconic OP: youtube.com/watch?v=CsQ5hGV3M9M At least where I'm from, literally everyone my age knows this song, even those completely unfamiliar with anime
Julian Garcia
Cha la is an OP
Nathan Evans
Rent free babee!
Bentley Gray
That janky-ass piano and early 2000s husky vocals gets me everytime
Ethan Diaz
While it's probably the most famous anime OP of all time, the best-selling anime OP (and indeed best selling anime song) ever is actually Mezase Pokemon Master. In addition, there are also probably other examples of iconic OPs at least in Japan, such as Butterfly, Sazae-san's OP, Totoro's theme song, and so on.
Brandon Sullivan
Banger, but not the most iconic
Dominic Nelson
YYHakusho has the best endings, cope Dbz or Red baron have the best intro
Do burgers consider the English Pokemon OP as the most iconic because it's the only good original intro they ever made or is there something else to it?
Ethan Richardson
Not a burger, Australian, but that shit was everywhere here when the animated series first hit. It charted in the normal music charts as A FUCKING JAPANESE CHILDREN'S TV SHOW. Something like that could happen today pretty easily considering how much the internet has infiltrated life, but this was the early 90s. It was unprecedented
James Lee
I really don't see why that's a big deal. Maybe it's just a different perspective from where I'm from (Italy) where there's probably dozens of similar cases as what you're describing.
Camden Martin
>probably dozens of similar cases
Name fucking three Corona-chan.
Ryan Ortiz
Rose of Versailles, Pollon, Sailor Moon, Pokémon, Tiger Mask, Dragon Ball, Captain Tsubasa, Attacker You!, Jeeg, Whatever Kiss Me Licia's original title is, Daitarn, Lupin, Harlock. I can go on if you want.
>literally lists Pokemon as an example of something that was just as big as Pokemon
Il Duce please.
Also, yeah, go on; none of those are even close, with the possible exception of Dragon Ball. You're telling me everyone recognises a picture of Tsubasa like they would Pikachu? Get the fuck out of here
Liam Hernandez
>literally lists Pokemon as an example of something that was just as big as Pokemon Yes, I listed the italian Pokémon intro as something that was as big in Italy as what you're describing the English Pokémon intro in Aussie land, I don't see the problem. > >You're telling me everyone recognises a picture of Tsubasa like they would Pikachu? No, I'm saying the Tsubasa intro was everywhere both when the anime first came out and in the mainstream public later on, much like what you described Pokémon as. There's parodies, remixes and tributes of it around even to this day. You also don't seem to understand how popular some of those titles were if the only possible exception in your mind is Dragon Ball.
