Like it never occurs to the author to make any other Strawhat Pirate to face him as a rival for once or resolve the situation in a unexpected way like HxH does, no, it's always fucking Luffy that has to fight katakuri, always fucking luffy that has to go agaisnt lucci/doflaming/enel/bigbadmeanie while screaming some shit about nakama. It's so shitty and unrealistic that we already know who's gonna fight who in arcs that won't even happen TEN YEARS from now

Luffy doesn't shout any platitudes to his opponents. the main Antagonist of Zou was beaten by a giant elephant trunk, Magellan was defeated by escaped prisoners, hody was beaten by zoro once, Hancock was beaten by love etc You for sure as shit can't predict what's gonna happen ten years from now.

One Piece has gotten far worse since the time skip with the actual SH crew outside of Luffy becoming more irrelevant, but the current HxH arc has been a mess as well. Kurapika isn't a very interesting lead character without having characters like Gon or Killua to bounce off of and the plot is so convoluted now. Basically both are disappointing.
I don't remember cake islands and walking on air in HxH, I think you're confused. But I do agree that One Piece has the best Sagas in all of anime/manga. Nothing in HxH compares to the Water 7/Enies Lobby saga or the Marineford saga.
