Shoujo art fucking sucks and puts me away from the genre, doesn't matter how good the actual story/characters are. Discuss.
Shoujo art fucking sucks and puts me away from the genre, doesn't matter how good the actual story/characters are...
bump
Eh I think it's tolerable.
A lot of it looks the same. Some shoujo have good or more unique art like DN Angel, My Little Monster, Card Captor Sakura and other Clamp series (despite the noodle people), Kimi Ni Todoke, Yona of the Dawn, Snow White with the Red Hair, etc.
I don't generally mind it but sometimes the abuse of screen tones in place of having any actual background is kind of annoying. I think it's weird that that's such a defining feature of shoujo manga.
same
Eh, shonen has the same problem with action lines sometimes. Forgetting to keep a sense of location is a common mistake for all artists.
The heart
checked
>shoujo
>genre
fuck you nigger you know what i meant
I like Moto Hagio.
Idk I guess you can 't read books without pictures to beat your meat to?
Female demographics do everything better storywise because there's less pandering and baked-in fat otaku nerd fetishes
fuck off newfag
It's not 4u user.
This is an obvious reply but it depends a lot on which artist
>Fat otaku nerd fetishes
You could've just said male and come off less moronic.
Female authors pander to fujos jhust as much. You just don't notice it because you're probably a male.
seethe
>Female authors pander to fujos jhust as much
yeah but when they do its pretty much what you signed up for.
I mean you get a serious josei or shoujo and it stays relatively on-model. You get a serious shounen or seinen and by volume 15 they're drawing lolis and catgirls.
>You get a serious shounen or seinen and by volume 15 they're drawing lolis and catgirls
This is some serious bias. Both female and male authors will draw characters they personally find attractive now and then.
>This is some serious bias
Not really? Men and women are different - women are usually less horny. They also such at geometry.
Based as fuck
better than Toyirma's crap
not a very high bar there
Seinen or Josei?
Who even cares about categories any more? Just read what looks interesting to you.
Disagree. I like the sketchy, happy style of Machida-kun quite a lot. I've seen people call it seinen, but it's literally shoujo.
>literally shoujo
What does that mean? Like in a shoujo mag?
Honestly Machida felt like yet another self insert for autists, albeit hidden in the art
Yona of the Dawn has had a lot of art evolution
Art style? Kind of old-style Shoujo, yeah. Story? Pretty fucking neat. Modern woman ends up in the underworld, becomes Hades's doctor.
I seriously want to cut off Yona's head every time I read a new chapter.
Literally have no idea why the plot is still going as she could pretty much silent coup the whole kingdom in like 30 seconds. Nakama levels way high.
It was targeted at women and was indeed in a shojo mag.
Very true. Dropped it a while ago for that reason. But the art ain't so bad.
Ore Monogatari was scanlated by Yas Forumsnons and was hugely popular here. It's shojo.
Villain's Day Off is a pretty decent parody of super sentai. It's shojo.
>fat "nice guy" retard gets the girl
>popular on Yas Forums
gee I wonder why
It's good is why. And the dude has a great personality, he couldn't be less like most anons if he tried.
I agree. It's like they intentionally drew shoujo so it looks bad. I don't see why, there are plenty of manga that does not have the usual art style but still good to look at.
Princess Meidi is fun and has interesting art, and it's actually complete! Only 7 vols long.
I think it was just catharsis for girls who self-inserted too many times into the heroine of ikeman x dopey girl manga so they made themselves feel better by letting the nice guy win for once (just like irl)
Then again...
I'm never gonna find out how Kaguyahime ends.
Anyways read Mars
A lot of shoujo art sucks, but there's good stuff too. The problem is that due to the declining influence of magazines, things that would traditionally end up as shojo or josei are ending up as shonen and seinen. For example, Hanako-kun is much more like shoujo than most shounen, but it's running as shounen.
This is another example, Ran and this author's works in general are much more like josei. They're definitely geared towards women. But they're good enough to do well in a seinen mag, so they count as seinen.
Why is the best art in shojo nowadays BL?
Disagree, it's cat manga
This is shoujo
I cant believe boku no rinne is at 9 volumes. I remember poppin out at 3 or 4 when it started gettin cucky so i figured I'd wait and see. Gotta catch up.
This had sort of a confusing message regarding loliwifes
I agree.
At least we didn't get
>JUST ADMIRATION BRO
Why not both?
Its about a group of reincarnations wherein the female lead constantly ruins the male leads life with her tits
Sailor Moon is top-tier shojo art, change my mind
Based and gaypilled
Post more pretty shojo
