Is BNHA really that good?

So far this show is rather.. generic. Entertaining, sure, but it doesn't bring anything new or particularly interesting to the table, it feels just like any other bland, cheap shonen that manages to keep itself fun.

What do you think the show has to offer to be one of the big ones nowadays? or is up there only because it lacks some proper competition?

It gets progressively worse at a steady pace
just drop it

>What do you think the show has to offer to be one of the big ones nowadays

Superheroes

no

The competition is shit like Black C(ock)lover.

Can hardly compete with american comics in that area.

No stakes, shit protagonist, shit writing.

Deku is so bland, I swear he is the worst character in the show.

Here's my idea for a better boku no hero show: Deku never gets the best power ever and instead works hard against all odds to become the first quirkless hero.

no

Pretty based but quirkless heroes will probably be more batman related.

Author initially intended him to use gadgets throughout, what do you think?

Despite the popularity of the movies the comics themselves aren't doing great.

accurate

Sounds dumb.

How so?

it's like jojo, but worse than jojo and the fandom to is a lot worse

>gadget hero
wow it's utter shit
here's an even better idea, Deku is born with an average quirk, now he has to work with what limited abilities he has to become the best

He is the worst together with bakugo

That would be a Jap Batman dude. All the dumb shit with some anime titties added. What's not to like?

An anime fandom worse then JoJo? IMPOSSIBLE

Wouldn't expect anything else from leddit's favourite anime

"It turns out I had a quirk all along, I just didn't realise it. My quirk is the power to believe"

MHA is garbage

Not every hero without powers has to be Batman.

Besides I feel like they did nothing with the advantage Deku had knowing a lot about heroes and villains. I could see a quirkless deku turning into a big strategist and defeating enemies using all his knowledge and trained skills.

... instead of being yet another typical shonen protagonist with a big power that destroys enemies with the power of his heart.

wtf? Bakugo is great.

It god old quick,i was already burned out at the end of the tournament arc.
Can't be fucked to finish it

You have really low standards bud, bakugo can't even be considered a character and the same can be said about deku

Attached: 1585432109363.png (912x6508, 1.01M)

Bakugo is so popular and his personality is such a big part in that, Hori refuses to make him actually change and instead makes every single character either act like he's changed a lot or they just suck his dick. Deku is still worse though

bakugo is just a tsun and thats fine

Deku is such a shit MC

>Is BNHA really that good?
It's shit m8. What are you 12?

If you're a 30-year-old boomer who grew up reading Naruto, Bleach and other generic battle shonen, it's not really special. It's not awful manga but it's clearly babby's first battle shonen (like it's supposed to be, it's manga for young boys). I can understand why someone who has never read much stuff like this would get so into it, it's easy to read and rather entertaining.

It baffles me why adults seriously watch shounen

Kimetsu no Yaiba is already outselling it.

American comics sell like shit and the industry is slowly vanishing. But if we're talking about MCU, then you're right.

Kek

Escapism?

What's wrong with that? Don't try to blame others because you can't enjoy shonens. And anyway going but your logic it can be argued that everyone that watch anime is an adult watching cartoons, just like kids

Manchildren

>every
>single
>shounen
>is fucking
>bad

ew, pokemon ew

The show peaks in the first season so if you aren't particularly enjoying it now I can tell you that it won't be getting better.

As for why it was so popular to begin with, it was because Deku started off as an actual underdog character and every little accomplishment felt monumental and earned. Deku only being able to use OfA as a last resort and forcing him to fight actual super-humans with nothing but knowledge and quick thinking was the winning dynamic of the series. That pretty much goes away when Deku learns how to use OfA without self-destructing and it devolves into unironic "just punch him harder" fights.

How about Deku has the quirk to copy other peoples quirks. Since quirks take a lot of experience to master, he is stuck using neutered versions of people's quirks against them and has to use creativity and cunning to come out on top.

It doesn't really matter what powers Deku has or doesn't have. Horikoshi is just a shit writer and will ruin it regardless.

I actually like this idea, you'd have to re-write Deku's entire character too, which is a good thing

It's my underhanded way of saying that Deku is shit and Monoma should unironically be the main character.

>character
Again with this joke? MHA doesn't have characters, drawings with just one character trait or two. Deku is kind and cries, bakugo is angry and yells, uraraka is in love, todoroki is edgy, ecc

I don't even remember that dude, just goes to show how uninvested I am with this show

Isn't that just Batman? But deku is too mentally weak for it

Yeah you're pretty much right, he's just a generic MC who fights for friendship and shit. Shounen and effective character development don't go well together, granted I haven't seen every shounen ever made, could be wrong

Sengoku Youko has some pretty fantastic character development for Shinsuke. Mizukami in general is good with that.

This is one of many disgusting thing Mha fans like to do

If I ever decide to start reading manga, I'll check it out

MHA is below average even for a shonen character development wise. But in the end it all comes down to the manga not having a plot, so everything is just completely static

Attached: sengoku-youko-5719514.jpg (728x1049, 185.5K)

I wouldn't say that the characters in Hunter x Hunter develop that much, but their characterization is pretty superb so check that out if you haven't.

I've seen HxH, thought it was pretty good. Meruem and Gon's character development were pretty nice, the rest were kinda static imo, especially Kurapika. I heard he's in the new manga arcs, so he's probably getting there

btw, this guy started as a comedic relief character

All things aside, the Pro Heroes and Villains actually have character development unlike the main cast. Honestly should just pull a Shitpudding and end the school aspect after the current arc.

>I heard he's in the new manga arcs, so he's probably getting there
He's still kind of a gary stu. He's fucked up a couple times in the current arcs so far, but those fuck ups are more logistical miscalculations than the result of a specific character flaw. He also has like 9 billion death flags planted in him, so there's that.
