Unpopular Opinion Thread

>Makoto Shinkai's works are mediocre or just plain boring and he has no idea how to write a story
>Dragon Ball was always a mediocre show full of plot holes and retcons targetted at kids and young teens, with an incredibly inconsistent quality level ranging from shit to pretty good, yet, it's fanbase acts like it's the pinnacle of Japanese cartoons
>Apart from JoJo, Hokuto no Ken, FMA, HxH and a few others, anything from the shōnen demographic is likely to be the same old cookie cutter bullshit about some kid with superpowers
>I like Slice of Life, but I feel it's overdone and I think anime studios need to reach out to action/slasher manga more
>The Akira film isn't that bad, sure, it might not be the most faithful adaptation, but it's still a good action flick

LOGH is an internet politics-tier series for dumb people to feel smart when they watch it, Code Geass is better because it's self-aware and actually pokes fun at itself for how ridiculous it can get.

None of those are unpopular.

None of these are unpopular on Yas Forums, you fucking dork. You're not interesting.

>Apart from JoJo
Stopped reading there. JoJo is shit.

>X is better because it's self-aware and actually pokes fun at itself
Fucking kill yourself. Or at least go back to 2012. This 'it's okay if it's ironic' cancer is insufferable and I 100% an earnest piece even with its flaws than a fucking faggot covering any mistake he can with shitty cop-outs.

This isn't unpopular it's straight up retarded.

>LOGH is an internet politics-tier series for dumb people to feel smart when they watch it
Well this part is correct

>Yas Forums represents the entire anime represents community

You'd be surprised how unpopular these opinions are outside of Yas Forums. See Twitter, most people think DB or Naruto are peak shōnen and well-written.

FLCL is better written than LOGH.

GITS: Innocence is one of the best anime movies.

My Neighbors the Yamadas is the best Ghibli film.

Tsuki ga Kirei is one of the worst anime ever made.

Night is Short, Walk on Girl is one of Yuasa's worst works.

3-gatsu no Lion is a terrible manga and an even worse anime.

I never said any mistake can be covered by the fact that the series is self-aware, but most LOGH fans who talk shit about Code Geass think the series is trying to be some dry and serious war/politics drama, when it's clearly not taking itself seriously enough to attempt something like that.

*Represents the entire anime community

Fuck typos.

Gonzo was one of the best studios in the 2000s and most of their popular work from that era still hold up.

berserk is a shit manga

Alright heres my unpopular opinion: Anime has been copying or stealing Western culture, arts and stories ever since it's inception especially cyberpunk anime which has been copied from French comics and more famously blade runner

Is this an unpopular opinion? I thought everyone knew that.

JoJo is extremely cookie cutter though

Valvrave was a misunderstood masterpiece

If you care so much about Twitter why don't you go there instead of shitting up the place here?

Unironically based

Good shounen is the best thing this medium has to offer

Evangelion is a glorified teen drama, and the praise it receives is thoroughly undeserved.

>is better because it pokes fun at itself
No, and people who think like you are what ruined entertainment this decade.

Angel Beats is an okay series.

evangelion is only alright, the retards who praise it as the end-all be-all of anime like it only because it's so "different"

It was worth watching for based TK

GET CHANCE AND LUCK

>>Apart from JoJo, Hokuto no Ken, FMA, HxH and a few others, anything from the shōnen demographic is likely to be the same old cookie cutter bullshit about some kid with superpowers
>FMA, HxH
>parts of JoJo
>not bullshit about some kid with superpowers

Fuck off, ironic anime viewer

It's a legitimately good show despite its flaws, people around here only hate it because they like to be contrarians.

>This whole post
>Filename
Some people really just are eternal newfags.

How about fuck off, is that an unpopular opinion?

HxH is about as cookie cutter as the other battle shounen series, they didn't even have the balls to kill off main characters for good when they had the chance.

Can't really shit up the place, when said place was never good to begin with. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nah, I'll stay right here.

I don't have much to say, but I agree with you that Alluka was cheap. Personally, I'd like Gon dying at the end or at least there should have been more consequences of his transformation. Like for example Killua using Alluka to exchange his life for Gon's, but I'm OK with Gon losing his Nen.

Every single mecha anime except Gurren Laggan is boring generic shit in regards to the mechas ( I don't mean the quality of the anime itself, just the mechas themselves). It's like they can't imagine something more than a humanoid robot shooting a gun.

You're retarded.
>shōnen demographic is likely to be the same old cookie cutter bullshit about some kid with superpowers
Like Yotsuba? Flying Witch? Any number of harem romcoms?
>anime studios need to reach out to action/slasher manga more
That's not really how anime production works.

>people that dont like Gurren Lagaan are not spiritually advanced, are not thought provoking deep thinkers, dont understand the universe and are surface level people

The fact most teens are reading one of thousand same-y isekai they can't even remember the name of rather than a few big-name battle series somehow saddens me.

Mangas getting axed are 90% of the time entirely justified, and manga editors don't get enough credit.

This Croc Will Die In 100 Days is a mediocre, gimmicky manga you can't really talk shit about because it's "based on a true story™". I'm sick and tired of all these cookie-cutter drama-bait movies/books/manga/anime that always end with someone tragically getting run over out of nowhere.

Colors and motion are overrated. Sound on the other hand is vital; an adaptation that can deliver on the VAs, sound design and soundtrack justifies its own existence.

Gigantomakhia is Miura's best work.

Myriad Colors Phantom World was a legit good show which focus was entirely on comedy and shenanigans. Some of the characters were ultimately unnecessary (the cockroach loli was awful) but ultimately it was as fun as well received shows like Amagi Brilliant Park.
The hate is underserved

I think it's unfair how Jojo gets a pass for all its bad writing, flat and inconsistent characterization and predictable format, since the set up and pay-offs always feel the same regardless of how creative the situation gets.
Meanwhile other shonen get shit from the stuff Jojo does worse, just because it was obscure for many years until last decade.

Chrno Crusade has objectively the most powerful anime ending ever

Attached: sleep tight.jpg (1124x849, 238.61K)

Agreed. I've watched/read up to part 6. I'm 50/50 on if SBR is actually as good as people say or if it another hyped up part

I'm also up to part 6 and considering how much people shat on part 5 while praising part 4 and I got the exact opposite impressions I'm legit worried.

Tournament arcs are great

>Like Yotsuba? Flying Witch? Any number of harem romcoms?
"shōnen demographic is *likely* to be the same old cookie cutter bullshit about some kid with superpowers"

Never said shōnen was entirely about fighting or superpowers. I acknowledge there's some hidden gems like Yotsuba, but with every Yotsuba, chances are we are getting a nekketsu (fighting) manga that follows suit from Dragon Ball.

>That's not really how anime production works.
Elaborate?

>being a JJKchad is more rewarding, then being a hunterchad. I love both series but when you take into account that JJK is less edgy, less convoluted, better arts, more relatable likeable characters that are grounded... it is the JJK is a bull of the shonen world right now besides CSM. JJK is unironically a better version of hunter made for high IQ people

not much of a contrarian take here but not even the amazing animation made me care for kimetsu no yaiba

Oyasumi Punpun isn't good and is just porn for people who enjoy suffering.

Let's read steel ball run together bruh. You got discord?

Jojo gets a pass because at least it's not kids with stick bodies becoming insanely powerful for some bullshit reason and having no normal reaction to it whatsoever. Jojo has tons of flaws but it's a least slightly less retarded.
>12 years ofl kid gets superpower
>fight bad people all the time
>get hurt
>maybe kill people too
>still a regular 12 years who goes to school everyday as if the action happens in a different universe
>doesn't mature or get even slightly affected by all the fighting

Tokyo Ghoul's decline in quality is completely blown out of proportion.

>You got discord?
I actually don't and I personally prefer to remain anonymous because creating lasting impressions on the internet scares my autistic ass

Based jujutsuchad

Same. Nothing about me hooked me when I tried reading the manga. Same for the anime. It just feels so basic and overplayed.

Funny how all of what your saying doesn't apply to HxH, jjk or fma

Fucking BASED. I wouldn't say that I am scared, but it is something really comforting knowing that if you every fuck up on Yas Forums, you could just let the thread die and then act like nothing has happened.

there's more shonen that isn't that traditional but most of the time they also don't get a pass.

But I never hear about O THE SUN BEHIND MY HEAD and I keep seeing people justifying clear plotholes that aren't so bad because we as an audience know that Araki was making stuff up as he was making the manga.

That's probably because I wasn't specifically talking about them, just saying how I percieve Jojo in general.

Tbh Jojo doesn't feel like a battle shonen with all the bullshit Araki comes up with. The more the serie progress, the less "normal" fights it has.

>buzzwords
>generalizations
Ask me how I know you’re a retard?

I found Violet Evergarden to be terrible. They wasted fantastic visuals on poor direction choices. Apart from Violet the characterization of the rest of the characters is next to none existent and Violet is not a good enough character to carry a show on her own.

Violet also being a skinny 14 year old super soldier that gets robot prostheses in what was otherwise a setting grounded in reality pulled me out of it.

yeah but there's more to storytelling than fights

There's literally nothing wrong with Clannad's ending.

I thought the characterization of Violet was crazy inconsistent. In one episode she's a turbo autist, and in another she's helping a princess to connect with his true love

I think it was an attempt to show her character development but it was handled rather poorly.

I mostly agree though I didn't mind really the prosthesis, it just gave the setting more steampunk feel. Being some sort of super soldier was retarded though, she was just a well trained child soldier.

Remember, songstress special episode is set between episodes 4 and 5.

she went directly to be an autist again at the very next episode though

in the novel it was implied she was a reincarnated goddess of war which I don't know what it does for the story, but... uh... that's an explanation

the show wasn't too good, but that ending fucked everyone up. You are lying if you say otherwise.

Checked

Uh, yeah ok sure, whatever japan

sounds terrible

lol
