>The Internet Archive Hosts more than 20,000 VHS Recordings of the 80s,90s...
We used to call this Ares, Limewire, Bearshare, etc.
>still remember when Limewire was hot shit and I couldn't use it because my internet connection sucked
The good old times when I tried for days to download the 1gb Utena movie.
>60th Kohaku Uta Gassen: Kaela Kimura - Butterfly
So that's who he was making fun of.
The Internet Archive is older than all of those.
Pic related is my only VHS.
... Fuck Kazaa / LimeWire I miss the /rs/ board where ppl would post direct download links.
Why was /rs/ removed? It was so good. Can't even remember when it disappeared.
Blessed thread OP
Thanks
>vhs tapes
what is that?
Are you actually brain dead?
>Why was /rs/ removed?
Mootykins removed it in 2015 after MegaUpload and RapidShare were raeped by various international federal agencies.
He probably was getting cease and desist warnings, or else he was just a giant pussy. Nothing was hosted to /rs/ just links to direct download sites, so it took almost no server space.
My music taste has suffered immensely ever since. RIP in pieces /rs/.
I wonder what other changes have just happened without me even noticing. I haven't regularly used anything else really since like 2013 other than Yas Forums and /tg/. How long has 4channel even been a thing already?
downloaded my comics and D&D pdf via rapidshits
I miss it kinda
Well you can post pdfs now.
i rember WinMX
is it safe to browse there?
I remember azumanga and a good chunk of sailor moon on there
necrobump
>No Ninja Scroll
IT'S SHIT
Everything on the Internet Archive only exists in shit quality

I found the good shit

ok boomers
I'm going to have some fun during the quarantine
Was that around the same time we figured out you can hide an rar in a jpg and were trading files until he updated the site?
There are no subtitles, the animation is bad, and the tape is apparently part of a toy telephone-based video game involving loud beeping, but it's also the Super Mario World movie you never knew you wanted. I love it.
Most if not all the secret boards are gone, like /5/.

How is it possible for the internet archive to have so much stuff saved? People started using it to save PDFs and torrents of anime art books too
>try to download new Metallica album
>it's granny porn
>finally find it
>it blew ass
Fuck St. Anger and fuck Limewire
Yea lol. My buddy's Dad was into CS and he showed me how to use it. I still can't code at all, but knowing how to use WinMx, limewire, ut, qbit led me to being able to weasel my way into private trackers
2channel is 5channel now
Lots of HDDs
>limewire
>I DID NOT HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONS
technically millennial stuff, zoomgoloid
Think so, but my memory is particularly shit lately.
RIP /5/, I hardly knew ye.
watch the documentary
thanks so much OP this is great
>>try to download new Metallica album
>>it's granny porn
sounds like a win win
I was just browsing though this the other day looking through an old magazine that supposedly had an old Hajime Ueda drawing that as far as I could tell wasn't anywhere online. Turned out the magazine page said all the art was in a special booklet included with the issue that wasn't uploaded to the archive, but I finally ended up finding the whole thing uploaded to a booru, and there was the goddamn image. Love sites like that
Theres so much public-domain stuff that copyrighted stuff flies under the radar
not exactly a lot of stuff tagged with japanese how are u guys finding stuff
>tagged stuff
dive the fuck in homey
Yas Forums/4channel "split" was mid-2018 IIRC. Might have been mid-2019.
/his/ was added in October/November 2015, after months of permanent general threads on /qa/
/qa/ is no longer hidden and it's shit now
/tg/ was split into /tg/ and /qst/ in 2016
/bant/ is "new" too, I think.
beedicks is gone too
I know it was hiro that removed it, not moot
bant feel like old b, its incredible
/trash/ was also made unhidden and not read-only at some point as well, which I still have mixed feelings about.
>Was that around the same time we figured out you can hide an rar in a jpg and were trading files until he updated the site?
Nah, people had been doing that for a long time, I think I first a tutorial in 2010 on Yas Forums. We used to share mp3s on Yas Forums even. There was that thing with /g/ putting self-replicating scripts in jpg files waaay back.
However, the Fappening in 2014 probably played a part in the decision to remove /rs/ since it put Yas Forums in the limelight and caused moot a lot of legal-related stress, as well as the death of both RapidShare and MegaUpload which meant most of the links in that board were now dead.
Given that his spouse was Hillary I think the idea that we wouldn't stray is ridiculous, he should have used the stage for a divorce
Speaking of archival and such, I was wanting to download and read Parasyte. The “complete” torrents I found have it at 8 volumes, but looking online it says there are 12. I can’t figure out what’s going on.
Can confirm 8 is the last volume
>watch the documentary
Post the documentary
So bizarre. Several places I found said it was 12, and there was one other that said it was 10. Maybe they were reprinted or something. Either way, thanks for clearing that up.
Faust has some good short stories, check it out.
