Is it still the best romance anime?
Toradora
Taiga bet girl
then Minorin
then Ami
No.
Name a better one
Arakawa Under the Bridge
REC
There are so many things that have way better stories and characters:
- Koi Kaze
- Kodomo no Zikan — even the significantly worse t.v. adaptation is better than Toradora by a long shot
- Aki-Sora — same as above
- Super Lovers
- Bunny Girl Senpai
- Angel Sanctuary
- Hybrid Child
- Boku no Imouto ni Koi wo Suru
- The Pet Girl of Sakurasou
- Gosick
Even brainless comedies with no real plot can be better than this because they're legitimately funny and not just a self-insert wish fulfillment phantasy:
- Maid-Sama!
- A Sister is All You Need
- Ouran High School Host Club
- Monthly Girls' Nozaki-Kun
- The Familiar of Zero
Hell, even among the self-insert wish fulfillment crap, a lot of shit is better because it's far funnier and still has a better story:
- Ore.Imo.
- Eromanga Sensei
- To Love-Ru
Toradora ranks among the lowest of the low. What is the appeal really? The only way one could consider this the best, is simply if Taiga happen to strike a particular cord — it barely has any plot; the characters are bland; it's not particularly funny; and it's just self-insertion romance porn.
So are any of these actually worth watching or is everything from this list snowflake elitist 4/10 crap? Because I'm pretty sure I haven't heard about most of these
>Eromanga Sensei
Nice way to make a total fool out of yourself user
Worst girl won. Shit show.
I'm pretty sure hes trolling but some are good. Watch Kimi ni Todoke
Are you serious? There are topics about Bunny Girl Senpai, Kodomo no Zikan, Ore.Imo., Eromanga Sensei and The Familiar of Zero here practically every day.
I wouldn't say that any of it is particularly obscure, but quite a lot of it indeed isn't commonly discussed on Yas Forums because Yas Forums is indeed in love with self-insert romance porn rather than actual love stories.
Forgot to add Oni.Ai. to the last list: brainless, no plot, self-insert harem crap, but at least it's goddamn hilarious compared to Toradora.
This was the first anime I watched. Still has a place in my heart.
Never was
>anything on that list obscure or elitist
HOW
NEW
>There are topics about Bunny Girl Senpai, Ore.Imo., Eromanga Sensei
I'm not that into the romance genre so these are the only ones I know. Only Bunny Girl Senpai is actually good but it doesn't hold a candle to Toradora
No
go back to r*ddit
Okay, so pray tell, what is it about Toradora that makes it any good?
is that zoomer shit?
Yes
>REC
LMAO, dropped after the NTR shit
Faggots.
Many reasons that could be summed up by the basics of characterization, plot, etc. But it's thematically the best.
It's one of the few shows that I've ever seen which delivers a true and deep demonstration of love. The MCs typical romcom crush in the beginning is about as deep as a lot of romcoms get in why a character will "love" someone (and it's not even looks, it's something charming about the personality, or something that they did). In most instances, these are the winners. However, as things go on, these are the exact scenarios which are given up on. The true love that Taiga and Ryujji develop isn't based around charms, it's based on a growing respect and the fact that they gradually develop the ways to respond to each other's needs before theirs. The romantic love grow out an emotional intimacy they already have. They actually understand each other the most. There's a kind of irony that they put in hard work into their relationship before it even starts.
A lot of their initial musings for their crushes are typical for their age, but still childish. Taiga, for example, points out Ryujji's cringey approach to Kushieda, with his thought process of "I'm the only one who can understand her." He actually does grow to understand Kushieda in a meaningful way, but he realies he loves Taiga.
Almost no other romance has this deep a view on love. And it's not even purely romantic one. How many anime do you see where character x loves character y based on some silly little thing, even when they never grow to each other intimately?
t.smallbrain
nice blog
Not my fault you base your tastes on how much turpentine you swill or glue you sniff, retard.
Do not reply to shitposters.
But REC (anime) doesn't have NTR.
>Almost no other romance has this deep a view on love. And it's not even purely romantic one. How many anime do you see where character x loves character y based on some silly little thing, even when they never grow to each other intimately?
Pretty much every single one of the things I mentioned as better than T.d. do exactly that and show a slow development of love based on mutual respect and getting to know each other.
Yes
There's probably one or two that have quality in writing as Toradora, and 3 or 4 which are good.
The user's a a braindead troglodyte if he thinks To Love-Ru is anywhere approaching OK story, let alone better than Toradora. He's just letting his unjustified biases take the better of him.
>- Bunny Girl Senpai
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>you will never have a tsunderie gf
why even live?
You miss the point. In most romance anime, they "get to know each other" in the most guarded way possible. They put their best face first. In Toradora, they have no barriers, and start with a slight aversion to each other. They actually bear themselves to one another.
>mad, because he could not self-insert into chad-kuta.
And that happens in most of the things I listed.
Come on, initial adversaries falling in love is nothing new.. Even Ore.Imo. starts with Kyousuke and Kirino having had such a poor relationship for the past couple of years that they ignore each other's existence.
>complain about "self-insert"
>NOOO DONT' TOUCH MY SELF INSERT
Hypocrisy at its finest.
Nothing in that post implies that I self-inserted into Sakuta, or consider it necessary to enjoy the story.
when i read how many people say this is the best romance anime has to offer i stopped watching romance shows.
Holy based
yes because it's the only one that isn't absolute garbage
>- Bunny Girl Senpai
imagine liking pseudo intellectual crap made for losers
you are newer than new if you haven't heard of any of those
I like how all the detractors claim it's "pseudo-intellectual", yet no one who likes it ever called "intellectual".
It isn't "intellectual"; it's just a surreal mood character story that's watched for all the sentimental moments.
Oh my god, how could I have forgotten Happy Sugar Life.
No, but it's top 10
*blocks kidde romance path*
Aki Sora is just a cheap hentai that the shitposter is trying to push.
Koi Kaze is a series that people been recently bringing up for some weird reason.
Nobody ever talks about Super Lovers, Angel Sanctuary, Hybrid Child and Boku no Imouto ni Koi wo Suru and I'm more than sure you don't even know what those are.
Nobody liked Sakurasou but for some reason this guy thinks its a masterpiece.
So that user is totally right, what does his comment have to do with being new or not? Only Gosick and KnJ are shows you could say this to, is funny how real newfags love call others new.
>Nobody ever talks about Super Lovers, Angel Sanctuary, Hybrid Child and Boku no Imouto ni Koi wo Suru and I'm more than sure you don't even know what those are.
Yeah, that's right, nobody on Yas Forums does because Yas Forums is filled with lonely virgins that really only ever watch the brain dead trinity of magical boy, c.g.d.g.t., and self-insert romance porn.
Outside of it it's heavily talked about though, come on dude, Angel Sanctuary and Boku.Imo. got official English translations and releases that one could buy in comic book stores in the U.K. — it was pretty big, but Yas Forums doesn't talk about it much because it lacks a self-insertable male teenager.
It keep getting called pseudo-intellectual shit because they try to present literally me as a smart person for solving problems that are complex to anyone who's an underaged brainlet
None of these "problems" are solved with some super intelligent solution or anything. Sakuta is never characterized as particularly intelligent; only Rio is.
The problems are solved by Sakuta slapping Tomoe across the face, and saying "be honest with yourself", or in the case of Kaede simply by Kaede himself sensing that his time is up and the old Kaede is about to return again.
Japs just cant write romance for shit, cant they?
Toradora has been mentioned so many times that i forced myself to watch the entire thing. It was thrash.
The only decent romance that Ive watched was lovely complex.
>Aki Sora is just a cheap hentai that the shitposter is trying to push.
Oh no, it has sex scenes, that means it must be bad.
Still has way more interesting characters and plot than Toradora.
Golden time.
We seriously need more college romcoms
Too many college students already had sex, and no longer need the self-insertion to cope.
>outside of Yas Forums
Ok, so nowhere that matters.
It really talked to me during a very bad breakup at the time maybe that's why I liked it so much.
How could you name many shows and still make a 0/10 post
No but it's pretty good, I like School Rumble more.
What if it turned into an orgy with the episode in which they went to the beach house? How would have that effected the fan base?
Taiga with a choker on!
What if they animated it?
Excellent question user. No really, what would slice of life, semi serious, "porn with plot" Toradora look like? Probably boring tbqh.
No, but I like watching it ever winter with Yas Forums
KareKano is the best, this user is retarded
What about plot with porn? If we got more more nudity throughout the original content and more content after the current end, and then mixed with their daily life we had occasional sex scenes
cheesy af user
but it was ok
