Incredibly overrated.

You're wrong there's two.

>Mewtwo
>Latios

>Lucario

Latios/Latias is the true Pokemon kino

>mewtwo
>all it has going for it was mewtwo and aesthetics
>plot is retarded in both the original version and the 4kids version.
>the first 10min with mewtwo and Amber is completely removed from the 4kids version, which is arguably some of the best scenes pokemon has ever produced

>latios
>shitty villains
>latios dies because lol why not

not all movies can be winners

>muh random CotD sob story
garbage taste and shitty boring movie

>muh random CotD sob story
But enough about the entei movie.

Where Power of Us excels is how it masterfully wove multiple character subplots into one satisfying conclusion. Everyone overcomes their personal dilemmas to work together in saving their town.

>Pokemon 4ever
Gotta love that naming pure kino.

I remember watching the Diancie movie a few years ago and it was dogshit. Was Volcanion any good?

Diancie was shit and Hoopa was even shitter, but Volcanion was pretty good.

>Where Power of Us excels is how it masterfully wove multiple character subplots into one satisfying conclusion. Everyone overcomes their personal dilemmas to work together in saving their town.
Literally every single one of those characters were uninteresting cardboard cutouts that weren't compelling in the slightest. The daughter missing her father is relatable and she had actual character development throughout the movie

The daughter wearing garters was hot, that made her interesting.

>forgetting the Manaphy movie that had the best CotMs, best character dynamic between a main character and a mythical, and best promotion for a spinoff game mechanic

Attached: Lizabeth smile.jpg (1280x720, 62.61K)

Too bad the movie itself was shit

Haruka a good Mom.

Go back to padt.

Yeah, no. A crazy little girl who kidnaps random women and forces them to be her mother is not relatable. Molly should be locked up in an asylum.

Now as for an uncle that genuinely cares about making his niece happy (even if it means telling lies to impress her), now THAT'S a relatable character. He means well but when his niece learns the truth and starts to hate him, you can feel how dejected he is because all he wanted was to see her happy. It's characters like him that make the Power of Us' cast feel much more human than the typical pokemon movie.

Pokemon 2000?

>>the first 10min with mewtwo and Amber is completely removed from the 4kids version
I am so fucking sick of dumbasses like you. The Birth of Mewtwo has not now, nor ever been a part of the movie itself. It was literally made after the film already came out of cinemas in Japan. It was first released with the home video version in Japan and because of that western importers thought it was part of the full film when it was just a bonus that played at the start.
And what really boils my blood is that you keep spreading the idea that 4Kids didn't dub that scene when they did. I have the DVD in front of me right now, The Birth of Mewtwo is on there, fully dubbed and uncensored. You would have known this too had you fucking Googled it instead of parroting the same bullshit you heard from some other idiot.

tl;dr 4Kids did dub it. Stop spreading misinformation you fucking retard.

I will weigh whether a Pokemon movie is good based on whether it stands on it's own if you remove all other Pokemom than the Legendary.
By the metric I would say Deoxys film is best film. It also has the best aesthetic in general. It had a dream like quality about it. Futuristic surreal, what a badass combo.

You fucking retard, the dub was released in cinema AFTER the home video version in Japan was released. There was absolutely no reason to not include it in the dub cinema version. The original and 4kids versions was already vastly different so it had nothing to do with being faithful.

That opening battle between Rayquaza and Deoxys always stuck in my mind as one of the coolest damn things in the series. Fug didn't just want to beat them, he wanted them dead or off his planet.

Which movie had that god awful pun "the world shall turn to ash"?

the lugia one

The Power of Us was not only the best pokemon movie but also better than your favourite anime movie, accept it.

>when you are the slutties girl in a movie with an actual gyaru slut
How.

Nice goalpost moving. First you say 4Kids didn't dub it and now you say 4Kids should have added an unnecessary bonus scene to the start of the film.
But even aside from that, while The Birth of Mewtwo makes great bonus material, but it does not belong as part of the movie because it ruins the pace and makes you misunderstand Mewtwo's motives from being his rage at being created by godless scientists, to being sad for his dead friends. Hell, from a plot perspective it's completely pointless since baby Mewtwo has his memory wiped straight after.
Seriously try watching the short immediately before the movie. You'll see how awkwardly shot it is to go from an unrelated story about a dead girl to the actual intro scene.

>The original and 4kids versions was already vastly different so it had nothing to do with being faithful.
More evidence that you're an imbecile parroting things you heard on the internet. Mewtwo going from "I'm mad because I wasn't made by God" to "I'm mad because I was created as a lab experiment" is not "vastly" different, especially by 4Kids standards. There were no scenes cut out and the biggest dialogue change was trying to make the tears of life less of an asspull.

I never said any of these. These are literally strawmans.

Try reading my post again but this time actually read it instead of making up strawmans. It's fucking obvious from the context I meant the cinema screening of the 4kids dub. This is literally true no matter how much you want to spin it.

No.

Why are you lying? The entire Mewtwo vs Mew's fights narrative turns from Mew trying to justify that his clones are abominations that shouldn't exist to Mew trying to defend the world. The grey area is completely fucking removed. It's a huge change in the narrative.

entei poopoo
mewtwo and 2k best moobie
also lucario

4Kids did dub that scene, it was Warner Bros that cut it afterwards, presumably because it would've upped the rating to PG or something. It was included, fully dubbed, on the Japanese dual audio DVD that was released later that year.

So what the fuck's been going on with the anime lately? Ash hasn't caught a single gen 8 Pokemon and most of the show appears to not take place in Galar at all. Did they just give up on gen 8 altogether? Was Sword and Shield that shit?

>muh saving the town
This is Pokemon holy shit, why did they need to make such a huge drama?

also advertising Lugia when it barely has any presence, wow gee. I'm here for the creatures, not random humans.

>4Kids did dub that scene
Yes, I fucking know. I even have it torrented because I find the voice acting more compelling than in the original.

We don't know if 4kids dubbed it before or after the movie was released. But when it was released the "complete" version has already been out in Japan for almost half a year.

So is that why Ash has a Dragonite and a Gengar? Like they don't even care anymore, they're just giving him a bunch of broken shit right off the bat. How many episodes has it been? Twenty? Twenty episodes in and his team's already the strongest it's ever been.

Yeah, Lucario's film was kino

I assume it was dubbed at the same time as the rest of it, the voices are the same and the "tears are filled with life" thing was probably supposed to tie into the climax. Not only that but the audio commentary refers to the markings on the cloned Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur, which can't be seen outside that scene, suggesting that 4Kids intended the audience to see those scenes.

>I assume it was dubbed at the same time as the rest of it
So Warner is to blame then?

This was the pinnacle.

Attached: 1541806199270.png (1440x1637, 3.25M)

they cut the scene because they wanted it to have a G rating and felt it was too dark.

and yeah, i guess it is talking about a little dead girl and having all these clones die off one by one too. of course, you know what else is dark? killing people. and mewtwo still clearly does that in the US theatrical release.

All Latios had was a nice setting with not-Venice.

I'd say so.

Birth of Mewtwo was not dubbed until later and was not included on the Mewtwo Strikes Back video release. It was an extra on Mewtwo Returns.
Also, OLM created the origin story at the request of international licensors to have more backstory for Mewtwo who in the original Japanese version has very little. The Kanzenban version of Mewtwo is the canon version as the theatrical release was never used again after the short-lived LD release.

>Deoxys film is the best
Based.

Power of One > Mewtwo Strikes Back = Lucario and the Mystery of Mew > Destiny Deoxys > Spell of the Unown = Voice of the Forest = Prince of the Sea > Guardians of AltoMare > Jirachi Wishmaker > the rest

Birth of Mewtwo really seems like it was dubbed with the rest of the movie and was just cut by censors and not released until later. Especially if 4Kids asked for it to be made.

youtube.com/watch?v=65XWQJR20Yo

yeah it did.

This just makes me think the Pokemon anime could have surpassed Digimon, if it had been allowed to have a natural progression and ending.
When Pokemon got serious it was top tier kino, like the Entei, Latias and Lugia movies, or the Mewtwo episodes + movie. In fact, all Pokemon movies are high-stakes I think.
The anime should have featured more stuff like that with Team Rocket (the organization) being portrayed as strong terrorists and Ash eventually defeating Giovanni in the original series, instead of turning him into a gag character. Also have Giovanni try to kill Jessie & James to show him as irredeemably evil, and give them an excuse to quit and go live a happy life somewhere else in the epilogue

Pokemon with an actual storyline would be fondly remembered now.

Early pokemon movies had such great soundtracks and aesthetics

From what I heard they wanted more backstory and then the suits like Al Kahn balked at what they felt was a dark, slow moving piece with perhaps too much intellectualism for their version of Pokemon. I think that the actual scriptwriters and ADR team were happy with it but were told it would be cut and to rewrite the scenes that were kept.

High IQ post.

>Pokemon with an actual storyline would be fondly remembered now.
It is, that's why people say that Indigo League and to some extent the whole Original Series is the best by far. Takeshi Shudo was the heart of what made that anime great and that's why the first and second movies, written solely by him, were so good.

>tfw you realize Mewtwo was an asshole because his best and only friend died and he never knew why he was so pissed because they nuked his memories

Attached: 1580941944152.jpg (933x933, 81.39K)

The Sinnoh trilogy was better

Yeah I actually wouldn't change a thing from the first season. Ash going to the League and failing due to Charizard not listening to him is OK to show him as a novice, so I wouldn't have him defeat Giovanni that early.
But Ash's journey could have ended at Hoenn, having him get rid of Team Rocket once and for all with some super serious plot or whatever. I just like the Mewtwo movie, the series should have included more arcs like that

Of course, his favorite ideas never would have been allowed to be used, so there's that.

>But Ash's journey could have ended at Hoenn
Nah, he peaked at Sinnoh, if anything he should have won that league and defeat Cynthia in a final match.
