yea because a manga aimed at full grown adults need 20+ pages of telling you stuff that has already been shown or strongly implied, that totally couldn't have been cut down to a few pages

Aechmea's "child" might be in the form of Antarc, or Ghost, if the objective is to try and get Phos to care about something again. Something with Antarc's form and personality but without the memories would probably be best, since old Antarc would really not like the direction Phos has gone since he got captured.

Yes, they do. Some people are really, really dense and need an infodump chapter to put everything in place.
And it added some stuff like sensei's actual conditions for prating, him not praying again, how long aechmea's plan was and some more foreshadowing for more stuff.
It's necessary because some things, especially extremely important ones, need to be stated and explained in detail.
