I get remaking the anime because the original took a lot of liberties with the source material, but why redo the manga? Other than R07 wanting more money that is.

Maybe they wants to remake a longer version of the first arc. The first manga arcs were short, only two volumes.

Not sure if you read the VN and think it should be more fleshed out than that, or if you're saying this based off just watching the anime.

If they follow the VNs, there isn't really more fleshing out needed to be done. They just need to give each the first 6 chapters 1-2 more episodes than they had. The anime really abbreviated and cut much of the character development, mystery, world building, etc. out.

Why orange sunset lighting effect looks so cheap in the remake, especially in the village panorama shot.
