The thing is that this isn't actually in the forefront of the main story aside from the otherfolk wanting to kill bahamut, it's all mostly in events and side stories. The main story is all about (You) trying to find your dad so you can beat the shit out of him for being a deadbeat who left your ass.

Yeah the early parts of the game are a big fucking slog, as well as the early-mid beats of the acts. Personally I don't mind the downtime in each act, just the fact that it takes forever for the main story to get updated and go somewhere. Act 3 has been alright so far, but they put a hold on the main story for now for whatever reason.

It's a nice time sink if you're really into grinds with long-term goals. Having nice art and OST helps a lot. I've played it for 3 years and only lost interest a few months ago.

yes and no. it required a decent grid for cataching up to current story but they do give a decent grid doing the story and you get free roll very frequently. if you want to rush it no. you gonna hit a brick wall at 5-8-90/140 of the story
