Dragon Ball Super

Honest thoughts on Battle of Gods and its addition to the lore of DB? Specifically the concept of Beerus the God of Destruction, Super Saiyan God, Beerus ordered the destruction of vegeta, and the multiverses?

Attached: image.jpg (788x1080, 182.21K)

Instantly better.

>Beerus, Whis
Good
>SSG
Took me a while but I like it. SSG Goku & Hit episode was what convinced me
>Beerus ordering destruction of Planet Vegeta
Nonsense. They couldn't even decide for how many years he was asleep.

It was shit.

>the concept of Beerus the God of Destruction
It was trash since it wasn't mentioned that there was a higher type of gods after the kaioshin and shin could call beerus if he wanted buu to die.

>super saiyan god
Another shit concept. It results that the saiyans had yet another legend never mentioned before and apparently only the saiyans have such a ritual for it even though other races like the namekians would make more sense for them to have god forms instead of a race of barbarians. And the design is a literal recolor.

>Beerus ordered the destruction of vegeta
Cheapens all the drama related to planet vegeta destruction since even if frieza didn't wanr he would have to destroy planet vegeta. In fact, even if the saiyans defeated frieza, beerus would end up killing everyone which makes everything pointless.

>multiverse
Shit concept too. It would have been better if they were other galaxies instead of universes since the whole point of alternative universes is to show a different result from the normal one like in multiverse. And all the other universes are jobbers when compared to the power of universe 7.

Beerus, Whis and the multiple universes was a good expansion and should have led to plenty new adventures and foes.

God form and God Ki was a good idea but they should have made God Ki more of a leveler so enemies could go toe to toe with Goku and Vegeta without needing 500 transformations

They really fucked up creating Blue so quickly. Ritual God and then God Ki Red should have been used until at least Goku Black.

Beerus ordering destruction of Vegeta absolute dogshit. Takes away from Frieza and his eventual death.

Good ideas but lackluster execution. And to make matters worse, Earth's lore and the otherworld are still more interesting and are no longer explored. We know more about other universes than we do about universe 7.

Bad, all of it, at the end when Beerus said that there were other universes, I had a little bit of hope but they managed to turn that concept in pure shit.

>Beerus the God of Destruction
Toriyama again retconning his story for there to be another god higher in the totem pole than the previous one.
>Super Saiyan God
Screws with the original Super Saiyan legened and the powerscaling beyond belief. Apparently everyone who didn't hail from Universe 7 had enough power to give a GoD a run for their money yet they themselves didn't for some reason despite Super Saiyan 3 for example screwing with the rules of the dead returning for 1 day.
>Beerus ordered the destruction of vegeta
Takes away from Frieza's own fear of the Super Saiyan legend which would be his undoing regardless of what he did.
>multiverses
Wasted potential. Understandably made the story more cluttered while screwing with it just like the aforementioned God Ki apparently being so last season for everyone out there. The ToP featuring all of them except for the ones Zeno erased (another wasted potential btw) already gave them the excuse not to feature them again since we already saw their strongest warriors and how they fared against Goku and co.

I kneel.

Cute pairing.

Attached: Goku and chichi.jpg (500x500, 83.91K)

My wife Chino is so cute.

It was shit. Dragon ball and dragon ball z are the only acceptable cartoons.

>cartoons

>Beerus God of Destruction
nifty design, his personality is a bit stale but I appreciate it immediately answers the question of why we haven't seen him until now (i.e, like all the gods in Goku's universe, he fucking sucks at his job but will never admit it)
>Super Saiyan God
SSG has a cool design, although the hair being in its base style would piss me off if SSB didn't exist. the name was a mistake. shoulda just been saiyan god, and then super saiyan god, not ssg and ssgss, but oh well hindsight and all. I really like the trend they started of giving characters and transformations in DB more visually unique auras instead of just the same spiky outline in different colors w/ optional sparks. I do however find it incredibly frustrating the complete lack of backstory on why it exists in-universe. "there was once a super saiyan who had friends, but all the evil saiyans killed them, and if you do a ritual that proves you have friends too his ghost will grant you godhood" falls a bit short. did Yamoshi make a deal with a god of the dead? did he obtain SSG in the afterlife or is there some other reason he can just gift basket someone a fat god ki injection. and if Whis taught Goku and Vegeta how to produce more god ki on their own without doing the ritual every time, does that mean all mortal races can be taught to produce god ki or is this unique to saiyans? if so, how the hell did that come about?
>Beerus ordered the destruction of Vegeta
while it makes sense that wiping out the saiyans was a sensible idea for the sake of the universe they probably should have better spelled out that if the saiyan race rediscovered the secrets of super saiyan while still alive they would have been even worse than Frieza
>multiverse
as implemented, a great way to introduce a shitload of new characters and already have an excuse to shelve them for as long as need be without people going "but why didn't X, Y and Z show up to fight new super villain Q"

Actually some anime is more like cartoons than anime
Examples: DBZ, Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Naruto, etc.

Just because something is popular in the west doesn’t mean it’s a cartoon you brainlet.

if it airs on the cartoon network its a cartoon

Even those live action shows they aired a decade ago?

This, desu.

But it would've been better if Beerus and Whis fucked off again after the movie and only occasionally popped up instead of sticking around and being recurring characters no one takes seriously anymore.

especially the live action shows they aired a decade ago

>Beerus the God of Destruction
Awesome

>Super Saiyan God
Great precursor to UI, because the it kicked the series off by saying "no more bulky nonsense".
It reflected the OG martial artists who value inner strength over musculature.
It was perfect for a new DB series while being true to its roots.
The fact that FP Beerus and FP SSG would be universal makes sense, because a GoD needs to be universal if no mortal was supposed to surpass and the only way a mortal can surpass this, is by becoming a God itself.

>Beerus ordered the destruction of vegeta
Felt forced.

>multiverses
Very cool, but its execution was so poor.
The strongest fighters of one universe were a mad scientists and his robots who weren't as advanced as A17 and A18...

DBS also showed that Tori and/or Toyo are complete fedora wearing faggots and I love them for it:
>Watches a couple of Neil Degrasse Tyson and makes a multiverse.
>Goku becomes a God, because of people (similar to how people create gods and not vice versa)
>"Can become a God on my own" Vegeta
>"I'd rather believe in myself" speech by Trunks
>Goku and Vegeta surpass the Gods
>GoDs, angels and Zeno turn into comic relief characters
I'm a fedora wearing faggot, so I appreciated it, but it is also perfectly aligned with Buddhist teachings.

>Beerus
Not bad. He's a fun character, even when bumped down to Bra's babysitter. Dragon Ball has already gone from Kami to King Kai to Shin, so they may as well introduce Beerus then El Grande Padre and Zen-o.
>SSG
Not too bad. The idea is that a race of selfish barbarians have to use the power of friendship to make ONE guy stronger. It makes sense that it's so rare, and that only the Saiyan Raised on Earth could do it. Sucks that we never saw Vegeta's ritual, but I guess it wouldn't be any different. It makes no sense that they didn't just give Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and baby Pan the same powerup since it doesn't seem to cost anything.
>destruction of Vegeta
Eh. It takes away from Freeza's villainy, allowing him to better become more of a "rival" in the ToP arc, but it also makes Beerus seem more evil when he becomes a gag character in the immediate next movie.
>multiverse
I actually hate this. We're pretending GT doesn't exist, and to do so we just go above and beyond the adventure element of the first GT arc? The Beerus vs. Champa tournament was a good idea, but the ToP was mostly nonsense. There's no reason Jiren and Toppo couldn't just be other guys from Universe 7, for example. We have Galactic Patrol, so we may as well also have Pride Fighters (or however they're called) as another force fighting without awareness of the main heroes.

But at the end of the day, BoG is just a fun movie. It would be the best DB movie if Broly didn't exist.

This all of this

Forgot to add: SSG and SSB fuck up power scaling. There always has to be a villain with more raw strength than the heroes, because that's how DB works. Goku and Vegeta are godlike in their power, but Jiren is stronger? Toppo makes sense because he's training to be a god, but Jiren is just pure retard strength. Same with Broly, I guess, but nostalgia prohibits me from disliking him. Black and Moro are the only interesting foes in DBS. Well, bringing back Freeza was good insofar as it allows him to become a hero later on, which I'm still waiting for. But having an evil kai and having a wizard are different than the UNGA BUNGA shit that's been plaguing the franchise for so long.

>It would have been better if they were other galaxies instead of universes
Yes

>since the whole point of alternative universes is to show a different result from the normal one
Yes, in terms of the configuration of the building blocks of the universe.

>like in multiverse
No, DragonBall Multiverse has something more akin to alternate timelines or dimensions (like in the show Sliders).
There aren't multiple versions of you in a multiverse (in an infinite amount of universes the chance would increase, but that's not the main focus of the multiverse hypothesis), especially not in 16 universes.
A multiverse simply means that there are more universes and they can be as diverse as you can imagine and more.
See how galaxies are different from each other? Universes would/could be even more diverse.

>And all the other universes are jobbers when compared to the power of universe 7
This is sadly true. It was wasted potential.

Fucking retards, kill yourself. Only Planet Vegeta is shit to change.

chill

How I would change it.
>Beerus is stronger than Whis
>there's no SSG ritual
>Whis trains Goku who then gets SSG through learning god ki
>the food gag is less overused
>SSG Goku is not enough to make Beerus sweat
>Goku and Gohan fuse then go SSG
That makes Beerus use most of his power but they eventually lose anyway

>fusing with your own son
thats disgusting

Doghan cuckhan copehan Faghan weakhan losehan queerhan spichan niggerhan dickhan pisshan gayhan turdhan jobhan wimphan pussyhan dirthan deadhan loserhan sissyhan Tumblrhan retardhan dumbhan dogshithan tacohan

The only real major complaints I have with modern DB at all:
>Resurrection F gives the absolute perfect setup for Vegeta to not only beat the villain for once, but avenge the Saiyan's by defeating Frieza himself. And it's all due to Goku being off guard which Whis warned him about and I thought was a great idea.
>UI should not be increasing one's ki or changing hair color. It was built up as a mastery of martial arts and/or state of mind. It should just be about ultimate skill, exploiting weak points and using minimal physical stamina in a fight.

Attached: 1584819746841.jpg (1024x700, 545.05K)

LAST TIME ON DRAGONBALL G
Godhan, having just exterminated the menace that is the Cutegang, must now fight the insidious Moetranny and their poisonous HRT. How will CHADhan surmount this challenge???

Attached: Its all Ogre.jpg (1090x610, 45.18K)

It was a good movie but the absorbing SSG shit at the end was retarded and fucks up the power scale. The retconning of beerus destroying planet vegeta is also shit.

They handled the multiverses kind of poory, they fleshed none of them out. We never get to learn about the lore of U6 saiyans, Jirens backstory is shit, the fighters of the other universes are just generic fodder with no character, they literally existed to job or for shitty gags like Ribranne.

I’d also change the cosmic hierarchy. Zeno is shit, make the Grand Priest the being that everyone answers too. And get rid of the “there used to be 18 universes” shit.

>UI should not be increasing one's ki or changing hair color. It was built up as a mastery of martial arts and/or state of mind. It should just be about ultimate skill, exploiting weak points and using minimal physical stamina in a fight.

It is in the manga

Shit.

The newest chapter definitely looked like Goku's hair changed and the aura implied it increased his ki.

>It makes sense that it's so rare, and that only the Saiyan Raised on Earth could do it. Sucks that we never saw Vegeta's ritual, but I guess it wouldn't be any differen
I can picture Vegeta adamantly insisting on having the ritual performed for him. Bothering everyone else to interrupt their rutines just for him.

Made the power scale ridiculous

So you want to go back to power level hell?

>avenge the Saiyan's by defeating Frieza himself
That is retconned. The vassal (Goku) can kill the lacky (Freeza), but the king (Vegeta) will have to kill Beerus, who gave Frieza the order to exterminate the saiyans.

power level hell is a state of mind.

No, I want UI to not affect ki at all. And I hope Vegeta learns some crazy shit like sealing away magic that has nothing to do with power levels.

>the concept of Beerus the God of Destruction
I'm fine with this.
>super saiyan god
I'm tired of Tori's saiyan hand jobs
>Beerus ordered the destruction of vegeta
Killed the point of Freiza doing it
>multiverse
Needed, however Tori ruined this shit with only Jiren. If you're going to have a multiverse, please don't just say also there is only one guy that is worth talking about. A multiverse should imply infinite dangers and infinite stronger beings, not just one dude here

>SSG and SSB fuck up power scaling
The god forms should’ve been actually godly. Like users with regular ki can’t harm people with god ki. Golden Freeza and Broly turned SSB and SSG into a fucking joke. Freeza just has to train for 4 months to surpass SSG/SSB and Broly surpasses it because he has retard strength. It’s bullshit. I would’ve done it like this:
>you need actual god ki to hurt another god ki user, regular ki users can’t do shit
>Remove SSB entirely, just master SSG and jump straight to UI as your next powerup
>Since regular ki users can’t harm gods, you’d have to actually be creative and create Godly villains (like Zamasu/Goku Black) or have a villain obtain God ki, by either training under a God or using the dragonballs.

if UI had no effect on ki you wouldn't be able to use ki while in UI
UI makes your ki move on its own in tandem with your body moving on its own. otherwise you wouldn't even be able to put ki into your fist when you punched someone

>every villain being an evil god is creative

BUH BUH BASED

Attached: UNDEFEATEDhan.jpg (540x405, 30.39K)

MI gives a different, unrecognizable (to plebs) aura.
His hair changed, but that does not necessarily means an increase in power.
The subsequent panels show that his speed increased, but that his punches were weaker.

Attached: 14c6d367774357db08f6ab129e1e5d42cb4440cb_hq.jpg (925x863, 60.39K)

they are actually godly. being a god has never been that big of a deal in the franchise. hell its barely a deal in japanese mythology except for the immediate family of Izanagi and their direct descendants.

STRONGERren the THANTHENEXT2(TWO)ANTAGONISTS.

Attached: ENCHAD.jpg (352x550, 25.58K)

>Remove SSB entirely, just master SSG and jump straight to UI as your next powerup
No, because it removes an important part of the Saiyans psyche.
They want to fight as saiyans, which is why they prefer SSB.
No matter how you look at it, Goku and Vegeta would have tweaked SSG to fit their needs, just like how they tweaked their old SS forms.

This.

HARDER, BETTER, FASTER, STRONGER.

Could you bring an argument at least?

>Battle of the Gods
I'd peg it a little lower than the old DB movies in regards to how much I enjoyed it. I'm not opposed to the concepts it introduced or the lore, but felt the execution was a little dull. I also don't like how they kept Trunks and Goten looking the same as they did in DBZ, in spite of the fact that there was a timeskip.

>Revival of F
The only reason I enjoyed it is because I watched it in spanish and tacobabble sounds funny to me. This movie sucked. It just wasn't very interesting and felt anticlimactic in spite of the fact that they brought back the series' most iconic antagonist for the role. By principle I wouldn't be opposed to it, it's just that the execution was awful.

Hold still, Cuckly, everything will be over soon.

Attached: RUUUUUUUUUUUWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHRG KAKAROTTO I THOUGHT WE WERE FRENS.png (1440x1080, 2.13M)

Why haven’t these threads been banned yet?

Vegeta doesn't give a shit about the saiyans though.

>hair
We know UI changes the hair color, what about it? It's a mere marketing choice

>aura
Only Signs has the aura because it's unstable, the guide angels, Merus, Grand Priest and (complete) UI Goku are as auraless as base Goku

Attached: UI at will confirmed.png (1052x772, 321.8K)

>>UI should not be increasing one's ki or changing hair color. It was built up as a mastery of martial arts and/or state of mind. It should just be about ultimate skill, exploiting weak points and using minimal physical stamina in a fight.
I've been saying from the start that it has a weird synergy with Saiyans which is why it has the boost + hair change. Or at least, that's the headcanon I tell myself since it makes more sense for it to work that way.
