Like there are carnivores that just eat carrion, they aren't predators and wouldn't have any aggressive tendencies towards prey. Some carnivores subsist entirely off insects, are they treated like carnivores or herbivores? Plenty of herbivores will happily eat and prey on animals smaller than themselves, horses will definitely eat chickens if left unattended.

I think the teeth thing (aside from being Legosi's galaxy brain way of getting Yahya to not kill him) was meant to symbolize him trying to show his true self or something. Carnivores showing their teeth is repeatedly suggested to be them being open about themselves and what they are, I think Sebun's introductory chapters put it best when she says something about how the supposedly more mature and subdued adult carnivores are more frightening than younger ones because they hide their fangs i.e. hiding their true natures and suppressing themselves. Legosi in the beginning is afraid to show his fangs and be true to himself but as he becomes confident in himself and what he is he shows them off more and more, so I think Paru was going for something where him tearing out his fangs was his way of displaying his true self to Yahya or something. I don't know. Whatever she was going for I don't know if it really worked but it was something more than just "autistic retard does inane random act of self mutilation".
