Do you know what's the best way to show that a character is happy? It's simply to show her being happy. She should be smiling, she should look satisfied. Instead Negi went for the maximum tearjerking. He could draw her smiling while crying, but he didn't even do that. A character would not say "I don't regret anything" unless there was at least something that could be regretted.
It's amazing how much some fans cope to reject the idea that ending is pure shit.
