Recently finished watching this. It struck me as being extremely rough around the edges in terms of direction; characters would say their lines and then stare at each other for two seconds before the next character spoke. On the other hand, the character designs and overall animation are part of the glory of late 90's animation. It's a pity it all had to end.
How much longer am I going to wait before the best Madhouse OVA gets a BD release?
Anne.
started watching joe recently. probably one of my favorite shows now.
For how long I've been on Yas Forums, it's sorta embarrassing that I'm only just now watching Cowboy Bebop (although I'm certainly enjoying the ride).
Watched Urusei Yatsura 2 for the first time recently, fantastic movie. Rewatching Patlbabor starting with the TV timeline, its a bit rougher in some places than I remember but still very solid.
Years
Watch her show.

If it's got big strong girls user i'll consider it
It's got plenty.
Just finished Getter robo Armageddon, really enjoyed it.
how about something from the year 2000?
Gotta rock some Go Nagai stuff every once in a while.
I'm on Eden's Bowy after having gotten in a fantasy mood after watching Shadow Skill (along with the movie and OVA). I really enjoyed it flaws and all.
I liked how Bowy started, but after a pretty good first two episodes, it almost has felt like filler (or at least comparatively insubstantial) since then and I'm already most of the way through ep 7.
Are there any other good fantasy 80/90s shows that aren't completely obvious (and thus I'd have seen) and don't focus on comedy?
>I'm on Eden's Bowy
I only remember the two henchman and their robot cow. They were hilarious. In the dub.
Just gonna leave this here

I just passed that part and laughed my ass off at that. It was a water buffalo actually and that's the best part.
Something like Sea Beef.
finally found a good Neo Tokyo download though it was pretty fucking sketchy
gonna watch in the coming weeks, loved Memories
This thread has now been conquered by the galactic empire
To be more specific, what's an anime that encapsulates the boundless optimism and prosperity of 1980s Japan? It doesn't have to be set there, just any anime that fits that condition in general
wouldnt have been made then, pretty grimdark edgelordish.
otaku no video
>Black lancers
Led by the best admiral by far
Honestly Kill la Kill because it's reminiscing on anime from that time, but I don't think that's what you're looking for. I think SDF Macross does since it's the intersection of mecha/sci fi and idols which are both reflective of the zeitgeist, although I don't think the production holds up. Zeta Gundam has a lot of flashy colors and a groovy city pop soundtrack, but just like Japan in the 80s, it doesn't have a happy ending.
>but I don't think that's what you're looking for.
You're right, but SDF Macross sounds more like what I had in mind.
>but just like Japan in the 80s, it doesn't have a happy ending.
That's profoundly sad
N'CHA!
Urusei Yatsura fans should also watch Maris the Chojo
DYRL more so than the SDF show with how it removes most of the ambiguities about war, and the city inside SDF-1 is turned into a consumerist paradise compared to the hastily assembled town in the show. And, I mean, the song that accompanies the climactic battle being a generic pop tune instead of an anti-war song.

not really, only some OVAs were like that.
Mah nigga
I've finally gotten round to trying Slayers.
It's pretty good so far.
damn, look at those shoulder-pads
Mein brother.
Here's your shoulderpads, bro.
Did they fug at the end?
Relatable.
But was he a masochist?
what in the name of Christ?
Also, the best part of Shadow Skill was the MC putting on his massive earrings his mate gave him before going into battle
Best part of Shadow Skill was where Elle's brother fought Darkness.
>tfw the show is already over not even halfway through the final episode
has this ending ever been topped yet ?
who knows?
Wicked City and Demon City both got BDs recently.
Watched Guruguru 1994 and 2000. Both were great and really fun. Although the first one goes anime original around half its run and is ultimately way less plot focused, both hit a sweet spot between cute kodomo stuff, humour parodying classic JRPG in a way that's still hilarious, and some genuinely great /tg/ stuff. Dokidoki densetsu has a garbage encode with crabstick subs but it's still worth watching.
Watched it around a year ago because post-apoc and mecha.
Didn't really go the direction I expected it to, but if would've been fine if the problems you listed were less present. It tries to go for a decompressed, psychological type of direction, especially at the start, but the story doesn't really allow for it. All in all it's a nice little story with the OP being the ultimate "fuck I know I watched this anime but I can't quite place it".
>series has three anime
>none of them are complete
Saw the first episode of Iczer-1 last week. Is Nagisa going to be a annoying bitch til the end?
It's three fucking episodes you retard, spend one more hour of your useless life watching a short series to completion and you'll have your answer.
Watching YYH and liked it at first but from Genkai's tournament to the Four Saint Beasts I've started to lose interest. Thinking of holding out till the Dark Tournament cause if i put it hold I won't continue it for months.
What do you mean?
I've been watching the gaidens and damn, Spiral Labyrinth has some absolute terrible QUALITY that can go for whole episodes. Worse it's how it contrasts with the first gaiden that just looks like the original series.
California Crisis.
Still didn't finished Takarajima, depression is getting in the way.
Annoying because I don't have the habit of watching various anime at the same time, it's usually one at a time and I want to start Esper Mami.
I fucking loved Tiger Mask when I was a kid
It's okay to drop a show and pick it back up later. If watching another show will make you feel better, then go for it.
Forgot pic.
recs for series like Gunsmith Cats?
