I've just spent some time thinking about it, here's my 2 cents.
Women's clothing is typically designed to be fashionable over functional, and Men's clothing is typically designed to be Functional over fashionable.
Excellent example, Men's pockets vs Women's pockets.
We generally have a lot of pocket room to carry around things we need, whereas often Women's pockets are purely for display.
Consequently,
When a guy wears women's clothing, it is a choice of fashion over function.
This means it's effectively guaranteed he's attempting to look like a girl.
So, he's going to be doing more than just wearing clothing to disguise himself. Makeup, long hair, etc.
When a girl wears men's clothing, it is a choice of function over fashion.
This means it's not a guarantee she's trying to look like a man.
So, there generally isn't anything beyond men's clothing, besides possibly short hair, which is another functional choice.
This is why Tomboys are so cute, because they chose attire based on functionality, to suit their active lifestyle.
They don't care about fashion, they want to wear something comfortable to move in.
A Tomboy is not necessarily a reverse trap through, and a reverse trap is not necessarily a Tomboy.
tldr; Traps are trying to look like chicks, reverse traps are mistaken for guys by accident.
