>genderless beings
>slim figures with wide birthing hips
What did they mean by this?
Houseki no Kuni
rock cock
Draw in both fujos and waifufaggots.
leaks when
When phos breaks apart again
tfw Phos will never be this smug again
Male. Pronouns.
Do gems have romantic relationships?
A "confession" (presumably of love) is briefly mentioned in an early episode of the anime, but even close relationships like Dia/Bort or Rutile/Padparascha seem more platonic than romantic, and Cairngorm's relationship with Aechma is treated as abberant
I like how pho's head became all edgy
From what we've seen there are some types of relationships:
- Brotherhood: between gems of the same 'class', like with the diamonds.
- Partnership: between gems working together in a pair, which can develop into long-lasting, deep-rooted bonds.
- Friendship: between all gems not in the aforementioned two.
They bond, but don't reproduce, so romantic love is probably not the case even at the strongest relationships. They're also not human, similar as they still are in some ways.
They at least have a concept of romance, but whether it extends to the point of romantic love is hard to say, especially since the closest ones to it (Dia/Bort, Padpa/Ruti) seem more like obsessions than anything mutual.
I think now Phos smugger then ever.
>genderless beings
>slim figures with wide birthing hips
We will never know, but surely it is that the characters are mostly female.
this:
They're made to be androgynous. Also and neutral pronouns.
a genius move, really
why does he laugh
If they have a concept of romance then it's not hard to believe that they can. Dia/Bort is the closest thing we see but it's mostly a stand-in for a romantic relationship rather than an actual one. There were probably /u/ gems in the past we don't see
You'd laugh too if you were in his situation.
not everyone is evil like phos
he's almost literally hitler
Getting retribution against the people who tore you to pieces while you begged isn't evil. It's poetic justice.
If by romance you mean eros and love based on sexuality then no. They dont have any sexual nature.
Adamant must've explained to them the general concept of romance, and that's something that attains to a private sphere. When Dia tells Shinsha that maybe Phos went searching for her haato, Shinsha immediately understands what the implication is and claims Dia is a dirty fujoshi.
Dia is also quick to understand all the general implications under Aechmea and Karen's dates, better than Karen even. It's just that the gems don't have a full grasp on the idea of separate genders so that doesn't come into play much and Karen doesn't really understand he's been essentially feminized.
What's the matter, user? Afraid you might be GAY for a ROCK?
>afraid
>might
I've already accepted it
I like futa, traps and rocks but I'm still not gay
I like to think that behaviour like this is vestigial. They don't have genitalia or gender and don't reproduce, but they have some behavioural remnants left from humanity which cause them to act in certain way, somewhat involuntarily. Kind of like how we still have a contagious yawn or the infant grasp reflex. Adamant's teachings must have also played a part on how their culture and social mores developed, and those are based on human behaviour.
The plot of the doujin i'm working is literally Dia wanting to know what is true romance and asks Aechmea to let her watch the lovey dovey time between him and Crab, and let me tell ya, she wasn't ready for what was about to happen
It definitely is vestigial, Sensei even says that they have some actions left over from humans, like Phos and Cinnabar crying with alloy/mercury when gems have no biological ability to cry. It's sort of a nature vs nurture argument but I feel like most gem behaviors come from being human descendants and Sensei just teaches and guides them like a parent would
It's been a long time since we last got a Houseki magazine cover, which is a shame since that's pretty much the only source of official art other than volume covers.
>genderless beings
>feminine body types contrasted with maculine pronouns and speech patterns to give an androfynous expression.
They did mean that you shouldn't trust trannies with agenda to translate your chinese cartoons.
/thread
>4 artbooks in the last 3 years plus Orange's
How greedy are you?
i would still phos
Other manga get new pieces of art with every second chapter it's not fair!
Also jokes aside two of those were just compilations of existing art, half of which was the aforementioned covers.
Pronouns are kinda irrelevant when they're feminine in every meaningful way, especially when contrasted with the actual male charactersy. nu Phos is the only one that is hard to think of as stricly female, and that's because she's basically a fucking demon now
The anime did a lot to feminize the designs which appear more bishounen in the manga. Casting all women didn't help. Also, gems naturally look like pic related until Kongo, a man made construct, refines them to look as such. Their individual personalities vary from Cairn girly to more masculine ones like Rutile, but a lot of it loops back to their experiences shaping them. Cairn goes from being a literal nobody trapped inside another gem to being the center of attention while Phos has slowly hardened to the world.
The last chapter with the 10 fight showed it pretty well with how much Bort and Diamond had shift.
Sure, but at the time the untitled artbook that came with vol 7's special edition and Pseudomorph of Love came out, gembutts covers were still relatively frequent. Also PoL was full of old art that fans hadn't really seen yet. Statue and volume 10's were entirely new safe for the proto manga.
By the way I hope Afternoon gets a gembutts cover to advertise vol 11 soon.
>The anime did a lot to feminize the designs which appear more bishounen in the manga.
True.
Manga all the way.
>look like cute girls
>voiced by cute girls
in other words they are rocks, and i want to fuck them
>more masculine ones like Rutile
It's funny to me that you think that. I always saw Rutile as one of the most overtly feminine gems, and Cairn as masculine until he as thoroughly MOONED
she
her
he
his
Otoutos and niisans
I saw rutile as that "man with ill wife" character for a long time
>not praising the enhanced gembutts
>one of the most overtly feminine gems
It's the legs
>but a lot of it loops back to their experiences shaping them.
>The pressures of life are hardening, and evolving the gems to enhance their luster, and personal development
Very deep
Masculine: Phos, Padpa, Shinsa, Bort, Yellow Diamond, Zircon, Antarc, Cairngorm
Everyone else is a cute gem girl.
Dunno. Paparadchad has always seemed like a man to me. But thinking about it, there are plenty of girl characters like this
you forgot benito
>Masculine: Phos
No.
Everyone enjoyed close to two centuries of something close to happiness while phos was broken and scattered; peace and happiness which rested on the premise of phos tryharding. Even if phos accepted to be the only one unhappy, for the sake of everyone else, like a saint, this quasi-ideal situation would soon fall apart.
Phos isn't evil. Phos has had enough, and that can hardly be blamed.
Nepuchi is the ultimate tsukkomi to the point I see him as pretty masculine too..
And Parappa's character and body language is quintessentially that of a sukeban like that one girl in the On Pandora story. It's masculine in a "overly masculine girl" way.
>masculime
>Cairngorm...
user... Crab told Aechmea that even in his ghost eyes phase he always loved cute and adorable stuff but she couldn't act the way she wanted because of Ghost's control.
Cairn is the most female of all gems. She's the embodiment of a woman for the gem kind, the moment she married Aech and became a princess.
maybe he shouldn't have manipulated gem into going to the moon and allying to the enemy
he reaped what he sowed
>Masculine*
fuck! typed too fast
Honestly the characters with the most masculine traits are Padpa, Borts, and Antarc. I guess you could call the current Phos masculine as well, but the rest.. nah
ahaha
Reposting the protogembutts manga with Striborg's translation.
The way this has been assembled is left page first, right page second.
Left:
>Maybe we came from the outside world, like falling stars from the sky.
Right:
>Ah!
>Bortz! You're overdoing it!
>Doctor!
>Heh
Left:
>That was hardly a fight
>Sensei
>Fight me yourself
Right:
>Sensei
>Bortz
>Come to the scripture room (lit. Some room were you copy sutra. Think about the amanuensis)
>Idiot
>You're acting weird lately
>Why?
>That's enough / Phos
Left:
>But
>If I don't do this quick, you'll lose your memories
>It's fine
>Everyone's just so weak
>It's my fault
>That Diamond is gone
>Did Bortz say that?
>He's been weird lately
>I agree
>Bortz
Right:
>I'll fight you
>Kai-lan
>Moushuu mumyou zanshi (Attachment, avidya, remains)
I think he's reciting sutras, but I couldn't find them.
Left:
>Someone as oleophilic as you gathers dirt easily
>I told you three times already
>And yet why
>Did you grow it this long
Right:
>Bortz!
>How are you doing?
>Yeah
>I'm fine now
>Woah!
>Good, you're back to the usual Bortz!
>Yes!
>Looks like I did a bunch of stuff
>Sorry
>Everyone must be really mad
>It's fine, we get it. But you're the strongest amongst us, so we can't have you going crazy
THICK GEMDICK
Left:
>So you've woken up
>I'm sorry, Sensei
>You hair has been washed
>You were growing it out, weren't you?
>Yes
>Now I can finally do this
Right:
>Yup
>I can get them all at once now
>Hey, if Bortz's hair grows again, hide that weapon immediately
>Why?
>If another fight breaks out and we get hit by that thing, we'll be sleeping for a hundred years
>Do you want one too, when it grows out again?
>What?
>I kind of DO want one...
And that's it
go away bortz
so is this like a one shot pilot chapter thing or what?
