What a doll actually does keeping being nonsensical, she goes from training the daughter of a noble family to delivering packages.
The first half, about Isabella, was very good, but I didn't like Taylor's part. Mostly because I don't like how Isabella got shafted. She goes from being an orphan taking care of a little kid, to being thrown into a school for ladies she hates, to being married and caged in a palace. Jesus christ give the girl some happiness.

A lot of anime is like that. It's a Japanese thing in general. The bittersweet, hopeful-for-the-future ending is more preferable to them than the saccharine happy ending we tend to prefer in the west.

It's not "tragic" endings we're talking about, it's "bittersweet" ones. It's the reason why so many romance anime end with one of the lovers having to move away or getting into some kind of life-threatening situation, and then the final scene is of the other lover turning and smiling as if he / she had returned.
