Wow, I feel so bad for Kishimoto. Only 43 chapters in and the series got axed, and that last chapter was just retarded. Can't blame him, since he basically had to end the series within 25-30 pages.
I feel like we were suppose to watch Hachimaru develop over a long period of time and he basically was like "Oh you're now god and you're going to die also" then BOOM. Takes down the big bad guy in one hit with one page and that's it.
Completely smoldering wreckage of a chapter/series.
Can we use this thread to talk about axed things? Pic related, for example, she could have been the next big thing but her manga was shit (even though people loved her).
>samuflop 8 Shiggy. Let this be a lesson for all of you newfags: Kishimoto is a hack. Naruto was half-decent thanks only to his editors.
Jacob Edwards
I liked Naruto :)
I don't think he was the lead artist or whatever. He should have gotten a better artist.
Jackson Brooks
>Axed things
I fell in love with this and I don't think anyone on Yas Forums liked it but fuck em. Fuck SJ. This could have been the next big thing but shit taste plebs ruined it.
How dare people read Jump to relax and not learn a second language from S8 so that they can pass the test to give a shit about Hachimaru.
Austin Hughes
Double Arts was interesting. Magico could have been a huge hit but author didn't know how to balance between action and romance and got punished for it.
Julian Smith
>Jump wants long-running adventure series to fill in One Piece shoes >Kishimoto sets up a long-running adventure series >gets canned before 50 chapters
it was the art, the art ruined it
Liam Harris
Does anybody remembers some manga about some glasses guy that got axed?
Josiah Sanchez
Kishi didn't have enough faith in himself.
Leo Phillips
Ghibli looks like that, the story was just shit. Next time the editors will actually control him, this was just to show kishi that the editors were right and are needed.
Mason Price
No it was filling the first 10 or so chapter full of exposition.
Nicholas Johnson
I feel even worse for his brother. His series was crazy fun and got axed because he lacks the other Kishi's fame.
The art was atrocious but the story was also bad. It did start to grow on me, but it took way too long to get there. The first 25-30 chapters were shit.
>Kishi's brother
O-Part Hunter is god-tier comfy.
Cooper Lee
That image looks pretty gay
Nathaniel Taylor
More like too much faith, Kishi was clearly arrogant from the start and this is the result.
Andrew Stewart
Or he writes characters with no depth use cliches and tries to be deep which comes off as fake. Just have him make an isekai.
Juan Wood
Demon's Plan had a fan?! What are you going to tell me next, that Amalgam of Distortion had fans too?
Elijah Lee
Why'dyou say arrogant.
Leo Perez
It's only gay to you because the story revolved around two males who grew up together going there separate ways and the MC longing to have his best friend back.
It's not gay to me. Plenty of popular anime use that trope/plot device. Two boys grow up as friends, one becomes evil, and the MC tries to get him back. Fucking Naruto used this trope for god sakes.
>Demon Plan had a fan
Yeah. Pretty sure it had more than just me, but as I said, 99% of people on Yas Forums hated it but I've realized everything I like. Yas Forums basically hates.
Parker Cook
>Amalgam of Distortion I liked the MC's Kimimaro bone powers.
Matthew Richardson
I still haven't read this but I'm still sad it got axed.
Cool concept, reminded me of Super Dog Rilienthal but more serious. I dropped it around Chapter 6 because I wanted to binge the exposition chapters in one go.
David Cook
>Sales don't matter >S8 is about the long game >S8 is a slow burner >S8 is the new OP
A few different things make me think that. His comment about chewing squid and how you should buy both volumes sounds like an acknowledgement that the beginning was bad but he didn't bother to improve it. He also believed that his acclaim with Naruto could carry him through S8's serialization. The editor's interview also props him up as the next big thing.
A more humble person would've spent the years of preparation to improve the clearly poor introduction instead of leaving it as is and expecting readers to swallow it down. Link of the interview: mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/web_pages/192/
I don't know, just seems so surprising to me. It's been ages so I remember next to nothing about Demon's Plan but it seemed to scream axebait pretty early on like a lot of canceled series do.
Oliver Flores
what else got axed this year?
James Wright
It was like Gash Bell but grittier and with uglier demons.
Logan Collins
I liked Black Torch despite being derivative of both Naruto and Bleach. It had a certain charm to it and the setting was interesting.
He's too provocative and edgy for my taste. Comes off as tryhard.
Juan Hernandez
Other manga with worse art have gotten away it by having better content
Cameron Green
Konjiki no Gash is one of my favorite series and I did not think Demon's Plan was anything close to Gash aside from the battle royale-esque setup. Gash's most important elements imo is the duo teams, the preset spells and how intelligently the battles were carried out. I don't really have clear memories of Demon's Plan but it seemed to have rather typical battles in comparison.
Henry Taylor
Yeah, should've mentioned that the demon partner battle royal was the only thing they really had in common.
No, not that one, the MC of that was a glasses guy that was a... secretary?
Nathan Lee
Tanaka Seji, which broke records by only selling like 500 volumes.
Wyatt Collins
Is it true that glasses MCs never survive in WSJ?
Leo Cooper
Ouch.
Charles Butler
I'll admit, I did really like the final battle. Problem is I just cringed for almost the entirety of its run for how stupidly edgy and how much of a Tokyo Ghoul knock-off it was. And don't mistake me for someone who couldn't handle a little gore, if I can read Shigurui, I can read anything.
I just think that, while Sam8 was still around, they kept clear axebait alive for much longer than usual (probably as cushions?). I mean, shit like Tokyo Shinobi whatever should've been a U19 member
