"democracy is the illusion of freedom...

>"democracy is the illusion of freedom, tied under the governments secret plan to fool you into thinking your choosing the best or should i say better option. Truth be told imperfection is found throughout all the human race, with no ultimate solution. Humans are just men and women living day to day lives with an idea of how life should be, and how life actually is(as defined by the "present" encompassing world). In fact it is the dreamer who unlocks the potential for an upright and just society while it is men and women of God who see the bigger picture in the scheme of an "architectural" design."

Is there any other show where democracy gets this much of a deserved beatdown

>Is there any other show where democracy gets this much of a deserved beatdown

There aren't enough.

>Big Man bad!
>Big Man don't do what I want maybe Rich Man do what I want!

yang wenli talk with frederica in their room also beatdown dictatorship, and that's what makes LOGH amazing.

It was I'm ain't denying that. Is only that there isn't many shows thatgive democracy the same treatment

Both systems are shown in the series to eventually degrade into corruption and degeneration.

Yang is such a democracyfag because he believes it allows for more mechanisms to keep the corruption at bay. He gets shat on with Jessica's death and Greenhill's coup but it's still better than waiting for someone like Reinhard to show up and go into full civil war

"Democracy is the philosophy of making friends on equal terms, not of creating master-servant relationships. I want to have good friends, and I want to be a good friend to other people. But I don't want a good master or to be a good servant. "

The best autocracy may very well be better than the worst democracy. But, the best democracy will always be better than the best autocracy. In an ideal democracy, every man is his own master and everyone is equal in the eyes of the law.
Both systems are still susceptible to corruption and decadence. In autocracy it is the nobility. In democracy it is people in the political class, the establishment, crony capitalists etc.

I would say that corruption is the democracy is much more difficult to get rid of it just get so fucking entreched and there is so many mechanism that it becomes almost impossible to get rid of it.

This is why we need congressional term limits

Good luck with in trying to convince people that make that decision fuck themselves over like that.

Oh hell yeah! That was always the problem with Congress.

Politicians are a bunch of fucks.

As difficult as staging a bloody revolution with millions dead? The fact is that in a democracy there is at least A WAY to remove corruption, with an autocracy you ultimately have to resort to violence.

But what if the source corruption in democracy is not in it's elected leader but more prevalent in unelected public servants?
Autocracy may lead into civil war but the benefits of being led by a virtuous ruler outshine any of it's failures.

>In an ideal democracy, every man is his own master
That's not democracy. That's anarchy. There is a difference.

>autocracy has no civil servants

LotGH is so based. This is exactly what's happening in the US.

>it was (((Phezzan))) all along

>Old Niggers went out in droves to vote for the guy who voted for segregation and separate bussing in their lifetimes over the guy who was arrested at civil rights movement march a decade prior because the former sat next to a black dude for 8 years
Based Reinhard knowing that people are genuinely too fucking stupid to represent their own self interests

They even covered political patsy assassins who were the victims of hypnosis

>Before freedom and equality, could we have meat and bread?

pure fucking kino, anyone who came out of LOGH with 100% firmness on one side of democracy vs. autocracy missed the point.

>dude, just get rid of all of your experienced policy makers
>corruption never happens in primary process or general election
Terms limits also do jack shit for entrenched unelected bureaucrats

is democracy prone to largesse and subversion?

Very wordy answers that don't mean anything.

First of all it's a republic, not a democracy. Second, a ruler's actions serve the purpose of getting re-elected and to do that they have to appeal to voters. This means that the system naturally filters out rulers who do not satisfy a plurality of the voters.

You should never be looking at the philosophical implications or morality of things in politics. The only thing that matters is how the political game works and how it could potentially be exploited. The ideal system is self correcting and tends towards a society that benefits you regardless of your place within it.

Right and what do you suggest we do instead? Give you absolut power?

manipulate the Overton window with Hegelian dialectics?

>First of all it's a republic, not a democracy
Not any of those posters but Democracy refers to more things than a pure democracy. A Democratic Republic is still a Democracy. Stop using this retarded "AKHTHUALLY heheh democracy as we know it is nothing like Athenian democracy!!" meme

not enough physical removal going on

Demos-Kratos

>This means that the system naturally filters out rulers who do not satisfy a plurality of the voters.
This presupposes that most people don't vote, and those that do vote are primarily special interest voters
>The ideal system is self correcting and tends towards a society that benefits you regardless of your place within it.
What an absolute nothing statement

>to do that they have to appeal to voters.
While this is true, this causes a strange misconception among many people that it is politics by which a politician appeals to voters.
But in truth it is charisma and PR.
I remember when a poll said that the majority of the population of my country agreed on a number of key points that they wanted enacted, but wouldn't vote for anyone who would enact them. They were not electable.

And even for the political aspect of "satisfying" the population, most people lack the education to actually evaluate them. So in effect it is like magic, and again only a matter of PR.
Did the rain come because you did the rain dance? Or was it coincidence?
Did the rain fail to come because your magic doesn't work? Or was it the interference of your long-time rival?

Democracy requires education or at least discussion. Neither is encouraged by our current cultural and political trends.

Regardless of my personal feelings on statecraft people miss the point of LoGH when the opening lines of the anime sum it up nicely. It's not about systems it's about the human players. LoGH's entire setting betrays the author's belief that humans haven't really changed so he doesn't expect they'll have changed that much in the future either. Whether you agree with that take or not it's LoGH's linchpin. Its Sine Qua Non. The whole thing doesn't work without it.
LoGH doesn't end with Felix reaching for the stars on accident, and I promise you he's not thinking about Marxist Labor Theory as he's reaching.

Real life.

Look at how democracies are handling the chinese virus right now vs. dictatorship and theocracy.

I'd say that's more a matter of culture and circumstance than purely democracy vs. autocracy. South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan have done a much better job than China or Iran of containing the virus.

The real merit of democracy is that it makes it difficult for one single idiot to amass too much power.

Why do some people think Emil poisoned Reinhard?

Those on the left of this graph have as valid a vote as those on the right.

All of these east asian countries are dictatorship in name only.

The LDP for example has been ruling Japan for over 50 years.

And Iran absolutely did the job better than Italy & Spain (two democracies).

It isn't.

Joe Biden is the democrat candidate in US general election and he can barely speak.

He is riding literally on being the moderate democrat up against a socialist on one side and Trump on the other.
He'll win against Bernie and then he'll go down in flames against Trump.
It's a shame that Warren is a woman. She might have accomplished great things.

So, about that...

The IQ of a democratically elected leader is typically very slightly above the national average.
It's because as pointed out, everybody can vote and people can't judge intelligence greater than their own.

If Bernie would just drop the fucking socialist tag he'd probably win, even with his party shitting all over him at every opportunity.

at least in the old days property ownership imposed some sort of minimum IQ level

Majority of his fans are aging underachieving millenials that feel betrayed by capitalism and nefarious far leftists who see him as a stepping stone for a far their ideological takeover. The socialist tag is what got him this far.

I kinda agree. Neither Biden nor Sanders are making very good figures right now. They both look old and past their times. What they represent is more important.

I hate how right you are.
I don't think I can take another four years. Or eight. Or twelve. How old is Donny again? How fucked are we?

Compared to decades of warmongering under Bush and Obama his focus on the economy is welcomed
administrative overreach and encroachment has gotten out of hand

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Trump is not actually reducing military expenditure or foreign entanglements, is he?
So I'm not sure what your point is.
>his focus on the economy
Yeah, a trade war is going to do wonders for that. Not that it'll make much of a difference what with corona now.

If it makes you feel any better, chances are that this will be the final republican president. If the neolibs kowtow before the progressive wing after Biden's potential loss, the republicans are going to have a difficult time finding someone that's going to be able to beat whomever they are grooming to become the future president which will probably be a female Obama more to the left that will satisfy all wings of the democrat party.

If the neolibs tell the progressives to fuck off, it will be a whole other story.

Warmongering hasn't changed at all and the focus on the economy doesn't mean jack shit when he doesn't know how the economy works.

>democracy

If the people were capable of representing their own interests and managing themselves then you quite literally would have zero need for any leadership or governance. However, time and time again people as a whole do not prove themselves of being able to do either one of those things. Demanding someone or some group step up and provide diriction.

how do you avoid the dysgenics timebomb?

Not impossible. The shithole I live in managed to restrict the congress' powers via referendum. Though to be fair, the ruling political parties had us on the border of revolution.

It's the opposite.
There have often been times for species where natural selection was not so murderous. So the gene pool got wider and a larger number of variations came up.
As a new threat arises, the fittest genes naturally emerge as the dominant ones and the species as a whole evolves into something new.
If you try to keep your gene pool trim, you are just making your species vulnerable to new threats.
