People consider him weak, and he even gets framed as a rapist, people start calling him a monster. Naturally, he is upset about this and develops trust issues. Makes sense.

He then buys a slave, a little demi-human girl, because it's the only way he can get a partner that won't betray him. He is informed that in this world/country, demi-humans get treated as subhumans who are only good as slaves, and they frequently get abused or even raped or killed. Ring any bells? Well not for the retard protagonist, who is so absorbed into his self-pity that he can't even see that Raphtalia is going through the exact-same-shit as him.

After he bought Raphtalia, I actually expected him to just act tough in front of the slave trader, but then get all friendly and cutesy in front of Raphtalia when they're in private, though that never happened.

So he keeps whining about how everyone hates him and how unfair this world is, and he starts to treat people like trash, all the while ignoring that there is an entire race of demi-humans that are in the same boat as him. All he had to do was ignore the King and the other Heroes and go to the country full of demi-humans.
There, 90% of the conflicts in this show are instantly solved.

I have been watching Shield Hero this weekend, after dropping it like 5 episodes in back when it aired. Or, I think I dropped it. For some reason even 19 episodes in I am still seeing things that look familiar. It is as if I did watch it all the way through and completely forgot about it.

Anyway as far as edgelord isekai goes, this one is better than Arifureta. Though I am happy both are getting new seasons.
