After pouring hours upon hours into wordy seinen series for like 10 comments a chapter and

What exactly is "editing" in the context of manga scanlations? Is it simply going over the script and rewriting sentences to sound better? Because I already sort of do that to my own scripts on the fly when I typeset them since I work alone.

I would love to typesetting something, but I've got nothing to work on.

nothing, waiting for the next chapter to get released next month

who gives a shit what other people think, work on something because you think it's good

editing = cleaning + typesetting

Need some tips on cleaning. I got some raws and I noticed they have some dirty marks on them. Like the girl's thighs on the bottom of this page. I looked through a cleaning guide (docs.google.com/document/d/1WhL9FG29eh_Xw9C63RVXAQAjy_WsixgcwNWq1kfMrng/edit) but it covers the entire process from the beginning and since the raw provider already did most of the cleaning work, I honestly have no idea where to start. I could manually use an eraser on all of the obvious parts but I'd like a more efficient way to clean several pages like this without sacrificing details such as tones.

+ redrawing

Only extra leveling or topaz clean or something would get rid of those automatically, but both would fuck the art far more than it's worth. Either get digital raws, select and white-fill the noticeable parts, or deal w/it.

Leveling with curves but it's gonna be tricky to not fuck it up.

How did that crocodile shit become so popular anyway? It wasn't even popular last week as far as I can tell.

twitter and reddit drones

And how did that happen?

Been releasing 3 chapters a week on sadpanda in the last month, and set up a release/commissions blog and linked to it on my uploads. Still no commission requests except one from a friend and one from these threads. I should keep trying, maybe seek out people who are actively waiting on slow/untranslated manga series. Maybe link to my Discord account too because that's the cool thing these days and nobody likes email.

Why can't I upload anything on mangadex? It's the site down or something?

Ask them.

Where the fuck I can ask them to release a serie from being hostage? It's my first time dealing with this bullshit.

My comic

Join their discord

Isn't there other way? Or one of you can ask them for me? Really don't want to install dicksword if possible.

And this is why you don't rely on one shitty tranny-run centralized store, get a blog.

Excuse me while I laugh in DMCAs.

just use the web version and an account registered over a trashmail. uploads are working for me

Hoping for someone to pick this up, now that some based user dumped the second volume.

what typesetting tools should i use?

Does anyone know where I can find raws for vol 9 and 10 of Anne Happy?

Anyone want to finish scanlating Ureshon? The last chapter or two haven't been translated yet.

>no raws beyond vol 1
Fuck that.

InDesign is actually really good for typesetting. It takes care of shaping and centering your text, and the end result is just as good, if not better than Photoshop, as long as you know what you're doing unlike Mangasushi.

An user has a dropbox with the raws up to chapter 8 tho, I don't know if raws beyond that exist. Or what's the latest chapter for that matter.

Well I think some chapters are still on Goraku Egg if they're needed

Does ripper user still come by these threads?

>doing a series popular enough to get DMCA'd
but jewmini's box already has a site

how can there be a volume 2 official release and no volume 1? Sure it just simply hasn't been scanned?

I need more moaning/sex voice fonts. I already use SF Grunge Sans, Augie, Akbar, Burobu, Luna, CCShoutOut, and Seans Other Hand depending on the situation, but I want more so I can cover every JP moan drawing style I find.

What's a good way to translate "ウェイ系"?
"Obnoxious normalfag" doesn't quite roll off the tongue.

Disgusting.

I'm waiting for new volume releases of the two series I was working on. Wanted to try this one volume series, but after reading it and realizing the girl who suffers more loses while the MC cheats on her openly I've changed my mind.

Just read the latest volume of the Mitarai-ke Enjou suru
This manga is so good it doesn't deserved to remain untranslated

Attached: 35371v6.jpg (2646x4063, 1.79M)

Oh wait nvm somebody picked this up literally few days ago
Hope they can catch up soon

That would be the sensible meaning since that's what it means in every other context, including the creation of manga, but for some reason people use it to refer to the entirety of the lettering process when it comes to scanlation. Also, while you should obviously try to make sure your work is as refined and error-free as possible, it's always better to a fresh pair of eyes and a different perspective on it. That's especially true for the translation because the translator will always possess more information than the readers will and that can lead to ambiguities and awkward structures that aren't visible to someone who already knows what everything is supposed to mean.

Do any of you want to go professional?

I heard most manga/LN/VN licensing companies mistreat and underpay their translators and get away with it because a lot of their translators are just happy to have a job related to their hobby and have low job standards as a result. I'd rather be my own company and be responsible for my own profits however minimal they are than have a corrupt company breathing down my neck all the time.

The trick is to get a business degree or something requiring technical knowledge and then work for some international firm where you knowing a foreign language is the bonus skill to put you over the other candidates.

Aren't those companies looking for people who can speak Japanese and have conversations with clients on the fly? I'm at a disadvantage since I'm a dumbass who can only read JP and translate in one direction due to never talking with natives and only self-teaching myself.

>tfw finished my bookwalker downloader
feels pretty nice desu

Pretty much yeah, but that's where the real money is at. A "pure" translation/interpreter job isn't very lucrative.

Just curious but how much $ per chapter?

Same question, but I also want to ask about the brush settings for hand written fonts (for moans), something that would work in older version of PS (I'm using CS6).

ripper user, is that you? do you mind to share the knowledge secretly via email or do I have to hand you down my account like always?

$1/page for TL only, $3/page for full editing including TL. Could go up if there's a lot of text or stuff.

Find a niche user. In my experience, not long after I translated a popular netorare doujin, people soon came to ask about commission.

Which raw is better?
exhentai.org/g/1538816/31ba86c51c/
or
exhentai.org/g/1566088/34fd24aa7d/

The second one. Look how blurry the tones and details are in the first by comparison.

Thanks, yeah I guess HC's releases are generally look better compared to other scanners.

Translating a series about an /x/ girl who's obsessed with aliums and shit, and I'm wondering if I should change some of the terminology she uses. For example,
>occult -> paranormal
>UMA -> cryptid
>skyfish -> rods/flying rods
Sound like a good idea?

Attached: 1488108868874.jpg (1231x684, 151.16K)

I don't know the specific terms, but if they really are misapplied English words that wouldn't bring up related results if you googled them, then I think so.
