Manga art(ist) progression

Which manga artist, in your eyes, has steadily improved their art a ridiculous amount?

ONE
compare his webcomic back then and now

The middle looks the best here. That shading is beautiful.

Hajime Isayama

He got better at anatomy and faces, but I think his use of colors is very stylish and amongst the best in the industry

Not that I disagree, but the right one is objectively better on a technical level.

Came here for this

I like his art, but there's something off about it. 1990 looks the best.

Then it went to sloppy shit with RE.

Still trash.

It might have more pencil strokes in it, but as far as stylistically creating an impression the cloudy shading of the center is fantastic.
Its immediately recognizable as something novel to that author - mixing the messy shading of older manga with a more realistic style. The final one is more 'real' but at the same time it loses that novelty, and when compared to things with a similar aesthetic like Vagabond for example it comes up lacking I feel.
That middle one is Sanctuary, right? I gotta get to reading that one of these days.

>Then it went to sloppy shit with RE.
His art literally peaked with :re though (volume 8 to be precise)? Then he started rushing a little bit and switched to different, unfamiliar methods to speed up the process which caused the slight dip in quality towards the end. But if you followed him on twitter, you would realize how much he's gotten better ever since.

>Then he started rushing a little bit and switched to different, unfamiliar methods to speed up the process
Not that user but do you have pics to show this? Not once while reading :re did I think the art felt rushed or different

>the slight dip
This is a slight dip to you?

This is a rushed final chapter which got redrawn for the tank version mixed with the atrocious scan quality

Face looks the same so it's still garbage in my book. Looks like he's about to snap. RE art was fine in the beginning then it got sloppy. The fights were just confusing to follow.

I can't even tell which is the tank version

What's wrong with the face? Looks fine to me.
>the fights were just confusing to follow
The only legit complain I can agree on, since he always had trouble drawing good choreography.
brainlet

Retard.

Why does he look insane? This is supposed to be a happy ending.

Tsugumomo man & Prisma Illya man. Both gentry of culture.

>What's wrong with the face? Looks fine to me.
He looks like he's about to snap on everyone. Absolutely soulless eyes/smile.

>Not that user but do you have pics to show this?
I could cherrypick stuff but then you would (probably) call me out on this. Instead, I will post the author's own statement regading his art. Also, if you compare the last few volumes with the early ones, then you will instantly recognize that he started to cram as much information as possible in lots of smaller panels which ends up making the whole pages cluttered

>soulless meme
So you have nothing of value to say? Got it

Hirohiko Araki. I love how his art keeps evolving.

Keisuke Itagaki (Baki the Grappler) compared to early works.

I always thought drawing in analogue would be slower than digital. I wonder how he did it all in 2.5 days

It's not that stupid meme, but his expression just looks very lifeless. He looks like he's about to snap.

Garbage to garbage?

Does anyone have Murata's early art?

Yeah I kinda get what you mean them, but cut him some slacks. Dude went through some lots of shit and probably can't rest in peace with many people still (rightfully) having a grudge against him.

Do you think he gets nam flashbacks

Bunbun

Not to be mean or anything, but where did he improve`?

it's easier to sketch in analogue because in digital the artist is in undo hell

the fairy tail guy

I will never not be impressed with Atsushio Okubo's evolution during soul eater

post example

The demand on LN illustrator to improve isn't as much as mangaka because they tend to have more lax schedule, compared to mangaka who have to keep learning on how to draw efficiently to adapt with their deadline every week/month while keeping their series to be popular to avoid the cancellation.

makes sense

I really like his art

Attached: Togashi.jpg (651x616, 306.69K)

>That middle one is Sanctuary, right?
Yep. The right one is one of his most recent works called "Begin". But it's still untranslated..

Hagiwara

Mid is peak. Feel like his art regressed (probably because he switched to digital)

>probably because he switched to digital
It's like im really back in 2008!

Sakamoto Shinichi

You're acting as if there aren't mangaka who still use traditional tools.

For me Late is best
But Mid had this scene

Yeah with HxH Togashi once again took inspiration from DB, in that he uses an almost minimalist art style that lets him focus on composition and conveying emotion, while warding himself from future burnout.

Literally who

Most WSJ artists for starters

Woah

>while warding himself from future burnout.
Haha... ;_;

Fpbp

>those who don't understand manga think that great art is something that looks like a photograph
Seinenfags

There are major creators whose ongoing works have yet to ever get digitized, even when the magazine they appear in has a digital version. If they were making their work digitally to begin with, this would be a retarded exception for them to make.

Only a subset. The kinds of people that only read Berserk, Vinland Saga, Homunculus, etc.

Yusuke Murata? He drew this in highschool.

Togashi is the king of inconsistency.None of those look particularly better than the others or show any progression per se.

Attached: mankin1.jpg (1184x893, 461K)

I know for sure that Murata still draws and colors traditionally. He used to stream all the time.
