What would they call it? When They Cry sounds lame no matter how you put it. "Higurashi" would be fine if they do it in a Japanese environment like the first Grudge adaptation, but in a burger setting it'd be too weebish. "Cicadas" sounds like one of those straight-to-video trashy horror flicks, and "When the Cicadas Cry" doesn't roll off the tongue too well.

Not really. It just means that the show was decent enough on its own even if it wasn't as good as the original. Sadly the same can't be said for Umineko's anime, which did nothing but hurt the original's reputation.
